I would bet there was some wonderful language in that cockpit :grinning:

You bet!

HUD is probably smashed too.

I think it was also pretty close to transonic speed, given the condensation around the body of the plane and the position of the intake “lips”

Incredible shots!
Yes, the speed must have been high since the screen shattered like that…
Had that bird hit in the middle of it…! :grimacing:

Man that’s pretty cool. Coincidentally I’m listening (again) to Red Storm Rising Audiobook on Spotify…

From here I can tell that the HUD combiner crystal seems intact. I’m honestly impressed.

I’m guessing the guy in the green helmet has just been told “Yeah, you have clean that”.

Is the support bracket supposed to be S shaped like that? I don’t know the EF well enough to tell…

Yes indeed. I removed the entire unit a dozen times.

Noticed a little typo…

Isn’t that a Spanish EF? No offense but having listened a hundred hours of courses held by Spanish technicians I’m not surprised by the typo.

On the other hand I have a better explanation for the HUD bracket.
If you see it from the pilot POV you’ll notice that the curve happens because the diameter of the HUD crystal is larger than the HUD unit base and thus has to narrow down to the retaining bolt of the bracket.

I see what you mean. Makes sense.

You never played DiD’s EF2000?

Oh yes! A lot… Probably why I didn’t recognize that S shaped HUD support as it was slightly more…angular…

I know that probably everyone in this forum already did it, but… Here’s an example of the HUD bracket.
