Will there be any box tasting?
Congratulations on the new rig Chris! You’ll enjoy that.
Please report back here how DCS and XP12 are getting along with the new hardware. I’m expecting a positive outcome.
My filter is clogging up.
Mine’s been stewing for about a week due to the aforementioned PSU cable I forgot. That is now DELAYED! until Thursday. Thought about wedging in an older GPU temporarily but then I’d just have to uninstall/install. Waiting…
I’m just hoping mine shows up undamaged. I mean…UPS and all… We’ll see.
What’s the consensus on migrating a DCS World install? Best to just download it to the new computer as a fresh install or should I be copying stuff to an external drive and moving it over?

When I switched SSDs for my install, i used @SkateZilla utility. Worked great and I had no issues. I have an external NVME drive adapter that I can pug new NVM<Es into before I put them in my CPU. This only became a thing recently when I ran out of NVME slots…
Depends on:
- how slow your internet connection is
- how much you trust DCS Updater to keep the Program Files in the correct state
Unless internet is superfast and you distrust DCS_Updater.exe, I would just move the files over and then have the updater verify/fix all the files.
But I’ve been carrying a HUGE Liveries (in Saved Games) dir around for over 10 years, which still has some broken Huey/Mi-8 textures. So maybe you shouldn’t listen to me
I literally moved everything with Windows from the 1 TB SSD to the new 4TB SSD last year and it just literally worked without an issue.
Although in my case I wasn’t reinstalling the OS

…and to think…I’m a lightweight…I don’t own a lot of the terrains like Afghanistan and Sinai and stuff…

How many terabytes do I need??

Probably stating the obvious, but I’m guilty of forgetting about doing this before moving DCS a couple of times.
If you use OvGME or another mod enabler, you want to take a screenshot enabled mods, then uninstall them. Move the install and going by the screenshot you took, enable mods again.
Also, good info hear.
I’m so happy that basically every mod nowadays can just be thrown into Saved Games so DCS Updater can manage the Program Files. I tried OvGME at some point, but I always messed it up by not running things in the right order when updating DCS.

That’s pretty much every terrain except maybe 1 of them
I had to step out for a couple of hours…very very brave of the UPS driver to leave this in my entryway…

You think people can see it’s something valuable ?? ![]()
well glad it was not pirated and good luck hope it works well. looks like a really nice system… Enjoy and keep us posted…
It’s absolutely wild to me that it seems normal for delivery drivers in the US to leave packages worth thousands of $$ on the doorstep. Granted most delivery drivers over here are completely overworked and often don’t really care whether the package is delivered properly but at least there are systems in place where you can have the package delivered to a shop around the corner so you can pick it up later or you can specify a delivery window in their app. In my area this works pretty well. I have rarely problems receiving packages one way or another.
You can certainly arrange for the package to be held at, for example, a local FedEx or UPS store. You have to specifically request that though.
For me, delivery to my doorstep is very convenient, and relatively safe….if the driver isn’t too lazy to actually deliver it to my door rather than drop it at the top of my driveway. It’s been a constant battle with FedEx but UPS seem to do a decent job though. Don’t get me started with USPS.
Yeah same here but if you have an account it’s just a few clicks. You can also tell them a spot where they can leave the package but most won’t drop it on the doorstep for obvious reasons, it usually has to be a spot that’s out of sight from public eyes. I normally set a delivery window where I know that I’m home or tell them to just drop it off at a shop that’s right around the corner (like 2min on foot)
In the same boat right now as @BeachAV8R and this will be my first choice; PC-to-PC over my local network. Watch an episode of Petticoat Junction (or two) while this all happens.
