New old FALCON Series?

I’d buy it in a hearbeat! But I’m not sure everybody else would…?
Still, I feel the A has been left out. It’s always been variants of the C, probably because that was the newest of the lot, in the beginning of flightsims…
But there are lots of stuff to do in the A as it evolved quite a lot during its service. Fulda Gap, Desert Storm, Israel/Arab conflicts, etc.

I think it would need to be sold with a little extra effort (UI theming, music etc.), but it may be be possible. 80s retroism is a thing in popular culture. I think there have also been some big movies recently.

Ooooh. Ok I totally see it now.

I’d be down for the F-16A and all of those scenarios you described!

I’ve been playing through the free 1975 Mirage F1 campaign and it’s been exceptionally fun for all the same reasons.

I think these conflicts (and ones like the Iran/Iraq war) are the perfect vehicle for 70’s/80’s fighter sims. The F-16A would fit perfectly into this, and unlike the Korea theater, it’s actually a practical to depict a balanced (or imbalanced, depending on your viewpoint and which specific conflict we pick) scenario.

Even in the 90’s, NorKorea was not a real threat in terms of a peer adversary to the ROK. Whereas Iran/Iraq, or the Six Day War or Yom Kippur War, you had real question of the outcome. Tweak the scenarios a bit, remove US backing (or increase Soviet backing) due to unspecified political considerations, and you have the potential for some really cool campaigns. Not to mention you have peer French and Soviet fighters in play for the red team, which is definitely a good thing in my opinion. Just keep the politics out of it (might be harder to do than it should be) and it’d be amazing. Jane’s IAF was a great game, this could be the next iteration of it, in Falcon form.

Unless Falcon 5 is being developed by ChatGPT v.27 am a tad sceptical of some of the desired goals stated in the Interview.

I like your thinking… When they started to talk F-16 in DCS, I hoped for an early block Alpha. We could put that to good use on the Syria and Sinai maps.

Yes. I love the new stuff too, but we need peer adversaries for team red. If we’re never going to have that, then we need mid-late cold war stuff that fits the maps/theatres we have. Gotta have the package.

I’ve been getting on Enigma’s server lately and falling back in love with the Viggen/Dallying in the F-5. Really fun stuff.

And Wire Chaffing.

What?

Yeah that’s my hope as well.
A planeset firmly cast between 1985 and 1995.

Both REDFOR and BLUEFOR

The mention of F-16A would get me hurling money at them. I don’t need no BVR.

Of course, it could be the F-16 ADF: F-16.net - The ultimate F-16, F-35 and F-22 reference

No actives, all semi. Lesgooooo.

Back when we were mostly all at SimHQ you could have a motto at the bottom of every post (or your PC specs). Mine was that the flight sim world should end at 1995. My feelings haven’t changed. All aviation technology and developments after that year have made flying more dull and less “sim-able”.

Oh boy I know exactly what you mean!

Amen

I can put that in your title, if you wish

I take it you mean that flightsims shouldn’t simulate aircraft newer than 1995, not that flightsims should have stopped development at that time?

The remake of DID EF-2000 (1995) and F-22 TAW (1998) is my dream. Despite I’m now more or less a BMS pilot I wish for MicroProse 2023 to be successful on the Falcon 5.0 development. The flight simulator market is dead, except for free Falcon BMS and commercial DCS World (my feeling is like I collect airplanes for my collection), IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of … series, and civil like X-Plane or MSFS 2020 there is a big silence to compare with past.
So if MicroProse keeps level somewhere where was let’s say original Falcon 4.0 (1998) or more precisely I would say like was in DID EF-2000/F-22 TAW I will be really glad to see something like that on the market.
But anyway I like also Jane’s titles like IAF, USAF, WW2 Fighters, or Fighters Anthology (=USNF97+ATF+all data disks) or DI Apache, Hind so this level of fidelity is absolutely OK for me.

For everything else, there are players that I mentioned above.

If Falcon 5.0 revives the flight simulator market it will be good for everybody who loves flight simulators. I remember times when Oleg’s IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles was a game changer and how many people flew flight simulators in the past. Compared with the new Sturmovik nowadays.
