In Europe it’s sold out everywhere and all the reputable shops either don’t list it at all or have it listed as pre-order only for a few days at a time and then de-list it again, presumably when a certain amount of orders is surpassed. Waiting time is roughly a month on the pre-orders.
I did hear that it was sold out basically instantly everywhere in the world on release day
If you can find a discounted 7800X3D they’re a fine chip - they’re already sold out where I live. Personally, I’d recommend waiting for 9800X3D at this stage (if you can… working computer > perfect spec computer), it is significantly better than the 7800X3D (and any other CPU) for everything games want from it.
In Germany the best price for the 7800X3D is currently only 9€ less than the pre-order price of the 9800X3D and most shops list it for even higher prices than the 9800X3D, used offers on eBay are also way too expensive right now.
I’ve been trying to get the North for a while (Fractal is hard to get where I live), though my attention has moved to the Lian Li Dan A3 Wood edition now.
We just got a Surface Laptop 7 (the new one, whatever the number is) and it’s a very nice laptop. Very responsive and well made.
It has a Qualcomm processor (ARM rather than IA64), so some things that need direct access to hardware don’t work yet - Canon, why is it always Canon! - the processor has something insane like 32 cores but still manages to have an excellent battery life despite being small and relatively thin.
The best thing about it is the screen - I’m not sure if it is 4:3 or 5:4 aspect ratio, but it’s one of those “more square” layouts which is way better for dealing with documents than a 16:9 widescreen.
Edit: the screen is also a touchscreen, which I think is weird for a non-tablet, but my partner bought a fancy stylus for it and really likes it.
My heart skipped a beat when I suddenly got a delivery notification from the shop where I ordered the new PC stuff. I had opted for sending everything at once… Could this really mean that a brand spanking new 9800X3D, with mobo, RAM and cooler, was on it’s way to me…?
No…
The shop had decided to send the only item om the list that was available, the RAM.
The rest is still on a waiting list. Next expected CPU delivery is early February… Oh well.
Well that’s disappointing. Mindfactory still says they’ll deliver at the end of the month or early January but we’ll see. Availability is supposedly about to improve but I think that’s just speculation. Good thing I ordered when I did, the price of the 9800X3D increased by 30€ since.
