New Tank Sim: Gunner, HEAT, PC!

Interesting, my opinion is the exact opposite. I am at a loss of how to determine if the range is correct, besides the target being sorta in focus.

That is interesting @jenrick the brief window of focus, i immediately find more useful as an indication of range than the M1. I just played an absolutely hellish mission and found i survived a great deal longer than i would have in the M1.

mg3 is a laser cannon

So, when you activate the Stereoscopic Sight you have a floating bobbing line and a strong depth of field effect.
Essentially you CTRL + rotate the mouse wheel until you see the taget in focus and the line bobs and floats exactly like the target.

In theory in VR should be a better effect but with 2D and only one monitor for both eyes that’s the best solution really. Once you have the range you flip back to target sight and fire away.

It’s pretty nice actually and once you get the hang of it - quite effective also for snap shots.

precisely, it makes ā€œclose enoughā€ good enough for a hit. whereas, the M1 would have a fit if you tried to modify on the fly without relasing

Now, if only I could shoot again the Mg3 on top of the leopard I’d be really happy…

i DESTROYED a group of foot mobiles earlier. it wasn’t even funny. like shooting lemmings.

They might even need to nerf the Leo. because i am not that good normally

When I fired the Mg3 in the army I got exactly the same impression so- no reason to nerf it- trust me.

That is a serious MG.

If I want absolute effect on target I’d honestly prefer a Ma Deuce- but if I’m on foot- MG3 every day thanks.

OK I have only just got back from the range so I could get a feel for the rangefinder, but the MG3 is totally unrealistic… It can fire more than a 10 round burst or 50 rounds (whichever comes first) without jamming.

Been there done that and nope, just nope. Not just because of the more than 10kg b1tch to clean lump of metal it is, you also have to factor the spare barrels and all the freaking ammo you need to carry because of the ROF.

If I am going to be humping a belt fed weapon, give me a Minimi (F89) anyday. And this is where @jenrick gives me stick for saying I would prefer a 5.56 weapon over 7.62

It’s okay - I’m fine with disagreeing on this.

It’s the panther vs sherman debate again. In a game where dust and grease and comfort aren’t factors, the precision engineered technical marvels outdo more rugged solutions, but out there in the mud…

Admittedly I never used the MG3 in combat, but only in the not-exactly-sterile training environment.

My ā€œproblemā€ I think is twofold-
1- literally imprinting : I fired the MG3 before the Minimi so going from the heavier 7,62 to the anemic* 5,56 was… underwhelming.

2- I was young and easily impressed : firing the MG3 made everyone turn around. And while you could fire the any caliber up to 5,56 without ear protection, for the MG3 it was mandatory to wear it. On top of that our Company Commander - a short and stocky guy from the mountains of central Italy, built like an concrete bunker - literally picked it up, placed in against his hip and fired a long burst into a human sized target at 100 meters and I swear to God he hit it. I would have followed that absolute unit anywhere in the world.

My first burst always landed short, but after that I was a Terminator. I felt power.
It was intoxicating. You could easily tear down a friggin’ concrete wall with those bullets.
You felt like the only thing that could stop them was solid boulders or centenary oaks. And we’ll tanks.

Oh and the Italian version had a slower cyclic rate. Let’s say on par with the M60.

*relatively speaking of course.
But windage decisively affected everything 5,56, while it was more of a polite suggestion to the 7,62. Range for MG had us firing at targets located at 175, 250, and 500 meters.

I’m digging all the new tanks, but I hope the rest of the game gets fleshed out sooner rather than later.

After trying a few missions I realize that I’d much rather have cooperative missions to what we have before more content.

As of now it’s hard to feel like we are in control of anything.

according to the roadmap there are only two more steps before multiplayer … I think it was enhanced destruction and campaigns… then MP

I found a couple of missions last night that were absolutely spectacular and very immersive. I also found a template mission that let you play with units and ammo and a few other parameters

I think they said you can change the conditions and units of any mission that you have finished
