I absolutely love this game. Can’t wait for them to add some more stuff to play with. Leo particularly.
I love the crew voices. I’ve started playing with headphones and its just intensely terrifying.
Also, they have really nailed the feeling of “red dread” when you are scanning a hillside and it looks clear and you relax, then switch to thermal and the T72’s are absolutely swarming down it by the dozen.
Traverse left!
On
He’s looking at us!
One away
He’s firing!
I’ve spilled my coffee all over my mouse!
I’m struggling as well with them but ive found speed and cover to be pretty good at saving yourself.
Once identified, either a Bradley or a infantry soldier will shoot immediately and always seem to go for centre mass on the tank. So if you can see them, back off quickly and re-engage so they fire and then shoot while they reload.
This doesnt work so well on bradley teams as you normally can’t see the 2nd one till its already got you as their optics are far superior
You have just found the rare lesser spotted bmp72, normally a shy reclusive animal only found in Russian military workshops … ( please note this post should be read in a David Attenborough voice)
On a serious note, it shows good physics properties in the game with even the turret being a physical object and landing on the bmp not clipping through it to land on the floor
Yep, you can even see the effect of the weight on the suspension.
Chafing at the bit for next week when my data allowance resets and I can update this… and about four or five other games. One of the things I hate about Steam is not being able to play games that aren’t up to date.
It even moved convincingly like @Harry_Bumcrack said. I was genuinely perplexed and it even got a hit on my wingman while i was squinting at it.
The new update is amazing. New missions are so cool. The night missions are a whole new ordeal now the illumination flares are a thing. Its really evened things up for the reds.
Because our Leo’s only had active illumination (white and IR) we mainly relied on indirect light sources for night fighting - usually arty.
But it also meant that all armoured crew were qualified on the 84mm Carl Gustaf and 40mm M79 so they could fire illum rounds (primarily). It was usually the M113 crews, organic to each SQN, who did this but we all had to be able to use them. From memory the bridgelayer drivers personal weapons were a 9mm Browning and M79.
Firing the 84mm direct (HE or HEAT) was OK, but with Illum rounds and having to elevate to about a 30-40 degree angle meant the reflected back blast was literally a kick in the nuts.
Which leo were you on @Harry_Bumcrack?
I’m desperately hoping they add it into GHPC.
The optics on the T72 are hard work after the M1 but it really makes you get your head in the game and think more tactically than just scanning for hot spots.
I think having the leo would really add to the game and especially the campaign
Basically a late model A4 with the Belgian SABCA fire control system. LRF plus other goodies instead of the stereo range finder on the early A4’s.
Yeah a Leopard would be cool. Better than a M60 (IMHO). Similar armour but better FCS, smaller target and more nimble.
The Leopard beat the M60 in the trials for the replacement of our Centurians. One of the times that going Euro instead of US was a good choice - cough Tiger ARH…
