I don’t think we need 24 yet. But we definitely need more than 10.
Exactly my point. The 2080 costs a lot. Yet they made a 2080Ti and Titans that cost even more!
Then they mope “our sales didn’t meet our expectations.”
They blame it on everything but their price hikes. It’s hilarious honestly, last time it was the overstock in the distribution channels of 10X cards, I wonder what it’ll be now, can’t be 20X anymore since they stopped production already for certain cards(the best selling too IIRC).
The 3090 is a BEAST! …
It’s not ONLY about the memory though … it’s also about the CUDA cores and bandwidth.
The price is just going to suck so much. I’m holding off on buying components for new system until I see price for these.
Rumored $1400 USD for the 3090 ha ha ha! Let’s see if that holds up on Tuesday (sept 1).
Sounds like the 3090 is the former titan GPU.
thought it was kinda funny in the nVidia behind the scenes video, how they emphasize they have thermal engineers and such for the design process, yet every top end card for nVidia’s last 4 or 5 major generations have had HORRIBLE thermals.
I definitely like where they are going w/ the new design, air straight through the fins and out the top of the card, instead of forced to go out the lil vent on the back or the sides of the card.
so cool air from bottom of case, sucked through the cards heatsink and out the top unrestricted, and then exhausted out of the case.
I did a quick search but couldn’t find any images showing that new design in close up detail. Do you know of any? I have always thought the GPU acted as a horrid thermal wall to airflow, especially to itself.
As for the Engineers - did they specify their job was to keep thermals in consumer minded good order, or just prevent catastrophic melting? Our definitions of “good” may not be the same as theirs!
LOL the stream cut out on my when he said the 3090 comes with a silencer XD
edit: and ya, 3090 confirmed $1499 USD… lol $2K CAD pre tax. Unreal.Someone remind me that’s a bad idea?
Theres a detailed explanation of the cooling system in the stream. Pretty cool design.
10gb for $699 and twice the performance of a 2080? the 3080 sounds sounds like a perfect VR card for the discerning gamer.
I’m sorry, I don’t have time to tell you not to while I count the money I am about to spend.
Honestly, if it wasn’t for the 10gb vram limit, the 3080 is brilliant. The sims are just so vram demanding with all 4k textures and ortho and stuff.
3070 - $500
3080 - $700
3090 - $1500
Yes, it seems memory speed will be king now. Question is, do we absolutely need PCIe4 to make use of it? Or was there still untapped bandwidth in 3?
Even the 3070 was pretty exciting. But, yeah, 3090 for High End Titan-like workstations, 3080 for the high end gaming. I see a 3080ti possibility in the future for that middle of the road…
But yeah, I was a skeptic, but I’m sold. The 30 family is going to be a winner.
Yes there will undoubtedly be a mid life upgrade. Looking forward to seeing the actual performance reviews. I’m afraid most of the 2x performance claims refer to ray-tracing capability and not outright FPS in most games. Either way, I paid 700 for a 2080 super and will be selling it now! Any takers at $500?
