NVIDIA RTX 3000 series

Only 12GB? That’s a disappointment. I was hoping for 16-20!

Ya I was hoping for 16. Ah well.

Just one guy’s experience here . I wouldn’t trade my 6800xt for anything . It is absolutely smoking DCS !

Not surprised. Originally I was holding out for the 3080 TI but after the rumors started to indicate it would only get 12 GB I had to go for the 3090. That being said, I’m very happy with 3090. The Founder’s Edition runs cool and you can easily overclock it yourself. If you can get one at retail price I’d say go for it.

Yeah, prices are above insanity and beyond reason.

Indeed, sheer madness.

What mobo and CPU do you have?

My build is still in the holding pattern until this madness subsides, at least a little bit.

Canadian retail prices are $2200 to $2800 (CAD)…a bit too much to ask. $1500 for a 3080TI with 20GB or even 16GB might have been OK, but with only 12GB that pricing better be amazing.

(I’ll add my province has a 13% sales tax so you have to add 13% to those figure to get the real wallet pain value.)

Lulz I fell into the hype train when I saw the announcement for the 80ti but I woke up and have hopped off again. I know better.

They’re going to be expensive and hard to get, and I just can’t be bothered to hunt one down and pay that much.

Back to waiting for a future gen.

I’m lucky in that the last computer I bought with the 2080ti was a small form factor computer…so I don’t think a bigger card will fit…! Unless they make some sort of PCI-e extension cable with an external cooler…

External GPU enclosures exist and for the price they cost I’d rather migrate up in case size because with the added bulk they add you’d probably save space with a larger case in the end.

The 3090 FE is the only 3090 I’d even consider. That’s coming from a guy who has only bought EVGA cards in past. In the US it retails for $1499 and is only available from Best Buy. It took me 4 weeks and many failed attempts to score one.

One reason I went for the 3090 is because I had a 2080 TI and they are selling for insane prices right now. I sold mine for $1200 within a hour of listing it.

Yeah , the EVGA cards are kinda disappointing this year , particularly as they are the only mfg with a queue system that ensures your ability to (eventually) get a card at msrp .

It’s best not to be a fan of one brand , at least regarding pc motherboards and graphics cards , as their quality varies from year to year . Careful research is a must .

I watch the board analysis vids of “Actually Hardware Overclocking” on YT for info on anything i’m interested in . Very helpful . When i was looking at a 3080 , the Asus Tuf looked stellar in their report .

LOL! How long can Nvidia play this smoke and mirrors game with us and get away with it?

I almost (almost) feel for the YouTube hardware people - they have to keep cooking up videos; covering cards most people can’t get. And they know it. First World problems I guess?

Yeah , Sapphire has just released another new card we can’t get …
