NVIDIA RTX 3000 series

Good luck getting your hands on one, though.

My new rig has a 3080. In it’s predecessor, I’ve still got a 2080ti. Since I dont use it for gaming anymore, I’m thinking of pulling it and storing it to prevent time being built on it.

This 3080ti doesnt sound all that worth it.

My 1080 is getting a bit long in the tooth. It’s still pretty good, but you can tell it’s own the downward part of its lifecycle. Slowly having to dial back more and more settings on new games.

Same here. I really need to upgrade everything (CPU, GPU, motherboard) but, well, my timing sux.

I’m no expert, but even with proof of stake minimum of 32, miners will probably just find something else to mine. And ETH may stay around for quite a while given all of the existing dapps.

Looking at the way ether classic fluctuates I think it will be around for at least a couple of seasons yet.

Hilarious. Breaking our tiny little marbles.

And always nice to see (ref the above link from @HiFlyer ), we have some benchmarks from something related to a flight sim. Few and far between it seems to me. Here (at 4:38) he shows something interesting, to me, for the 3080Ti vs a 3090:

Basically neck-and-neck.

So… all the new cards were released today…

And instantly disappeared.

They are terrible value for money, 70% price increase for a 7% performance increase. Well sod that hombre. And that’s before our good friend “the invisible hand of the market” has its unholy ways with it.

I suspect a lot of miners grabbed them anyway, confident that the reduced hash rate nerf can be neutralized.

Even if they didn’t, there’s so many gamers out there on GTX 10xx and worse that have been waiting and planning to upgrade to the RTX 3000 / RX 6000 generation for I think about a year now.

Remember how people who bought RTX 2080 in 2020 were regarded? All would be so much better with the next gen and they were crazy not to wait

I think it’s the gamers. Because PS5 and Xbox X are sold out, too. They can’t be used for mining, can they?

Ha! This makes me feel real good about buying my 3080 from a scalper last October!

Just looked at the 3080Ti at my favorite computer store up here in Canada … cheapest is $2000 plus tax ($2260) LOL! No thanks. 12GB of RAM … what a joke.

Oof those are close to Japan prices. 3080s here are in the $3,500USD range. I managed to nab a 12GB 3060 for $800 a few weeks ago, and that works well enough to be honest.

I’d buy one for $2000 CAN.
