…and why not fixed until this day ![]()
Yeah it sucks.

Active Paaaaaaaaaaaaause!!!
And another leg, this time from Porto Alegre, Brazil, to Montevideo, Uruguay. Plane of choice is the Longitude again.
This time I ‘discovered’ the Content Manager and installed 9 updates. Was a bit surprised that the ATC is now semi autocontrolled and that the HUD were back in the cockpit and external view - some googling revealed that the option was changed. Wondering why, but who am I to judge ![]()
A bit of a surprise the destination airport was no longer dialed in on the Garmin, but somehow figured out how to dial that in via the center console UI.
Leaving Brazil behind.
Up high in the sky at 40k feet it’s a different way of sight seeing than in the trusted King Air.
25 minutes out of Montevideo I start my descent at a moderate 1000 feet/minute. With 7 minutes to go to the airport, the game decided to crash ![]()
Restarting the game, using the time accelerator/skip time button to go to approach and safely landing in Montevideo, this time at the first try.
Sitting on the taxi way I wonder how to actually shut down the engines and start my engines, and end my flight properly. Google revealed ctrl-shift-f1, but nothing happened after a minute or so. Puzzled.
Tomorrow onto the last leg, Montevideo to Port Stanley, yay.
Cheers,
TeTeT
nice to see some progress here ![]()
did multi engine type rating in NF as I am expecting more and more water flying South along the Chilean west coast
but seeing my destination covered in ice and snow was unexpected
ah, where are my sunglasses !? ![]()
Another burst of screens today. Still behind on uploading, I’m only two flights or so away from finishing up and plan on being done tomorrow. A few comments scattered here and there but mostly just an image dump.
First leg has me starting out in South Texas and last flight has me landing at San Andres Island.
Departing Corpus Christi for Mexico City
Departing Mexico city for Toncontín MHTG.
First try at MHTG sends me around on the missed approach due to the clouds rolling through but I’m pretty confident I’ll be good for the second attempt.
Great success!
Leaving Toncontín for San Andres.
Toddling onward, I continued my survey of Peru, all the time staying juuussst right of those big pointy mountains.
Then over the ocean and along the beautiful coast to Lima.
Trying to make up time so I am planning a leap to Chile next. I tested this plane’s service ceiling (read, exceeded), now it’s time to play with range.
OK, second post for the day. Catching up nicely!
Blasting out of San Andres.
Descent into Panama City.
I wasn’t sure what to really expect going into Panama but it did not disappoint.
Taking something smaller into Columbia.
Picking up some cargo from a small strip near Tablón de Tamará, Columbia.
Headed out for Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport, SKCL.
I pass off the TBM to one of the AI pilots and switch back to the Airbus for the remainder of the trip.
Approach into SEQM, Ecuador.
With some weather building and mountain peaks all around, now seems like a good time to leave.
Approach into SPJR. Not too much to speak of for the airport itself but it’s nestled into a nice little valley.
Great job @BierRunner and @boomerang10!
I’m going to miss this when it’s over. We need an around the world tour or something so I can read more of these spectacular trip reports!
you know, we definitely need to get back home from Port Stanley, dont we? ![]()
I’d be up for that. Right now I am reading a book about the trek a Pan Am Boeing 314 Clipper crew had to make after finding themselves stuck in Auckland after news of the Pearl Harbor attack reached them. They eventually received orders to fly the aircraft home the long way around… Australia, up to India, then the Middle East, across Africa, over to Natal, Brazil and up to New York. Not quite a round the world trip, but still quite a trek. I’m thinking about retracing their route, but in something a little faster than the Clipper . I still have to finish my Lewis and Clark trek too. My expedition has spent several months holed up in St Louis ;).
I got stuck in that trek as well. Will probably continue it in my Piper Turbo Arrow. So far I flew it in the Asobo Baron.
And onto the final leg of this journey, Montevideo to Port Stanley.
With the now familiar Longitude this should be a relaxing trip.
Leaving the South American continent behind…
… over the sea for about 2 hours, cruising at Mach 0.8 at 40k feet.
Finally the Falklands are in sight!
Approach works out, maybe a tad bit low.
Who called the firetruck from the left?
And why does it cross the runway when I’m low and slow? I divert to the grass after touching down left of the truck on the tarmac.
Happy to have been able to walk away from this landing …
The mudspike crew needs to walk the extra mile to get the valuable goods aboard:
Some Paulaner Weissbier
König Ludwig Dunkel

Erdinger Weissbier
And the exotic Guinness in this southern Germany focused brew collection
Hope with this we’re ready for a small New Years Eve party ![]()
Cheers,
TeTeT
Congratulations @TeTeT ! ![]()
All good stuff ![]()
Okay, so that was interesting. 647 nm is a long way in an Arrow but I made it (on the second try). The first attempt ended in disaster when I…um…had to take care of necessary business. Apparently, the AP thought it was his turn and stopped flying the heading. Four hours of work wasted. None the less, I am now in Chile!!!
A gorgeous route along the coast. However, that last leg tested my resolve (and chewed up a lot of sim time without forward progress). Despite the extra supplies TeTet generously delivered to Port Stanely, my arrival is now in jeopardy.
Ohio to Chile is not bad for my first time and my landing and navigation skills are greatly improved for the effort. We’ll see how much closer I can get.
Keep on coming…We will keep the bar open for you.

Congrats @TeTeT
OK, getting close to the end now.
Departing for SLLP, El Alto, in Bolivia. I hadn’t done too much research on the area, I really had no idea what I was in for.
El Alto in sight. 13,000 foot field elevation and a town of over 900,000. Off the departure end of the runway is a rather dramatic cliff leading to more of the city below.
This is why I love these flights every year, I’m always stumbling into places like this.
Departing SLLP, city of El Alto below the airport.
Nighttime arrival into SBCG. From here I’ll head east over to Rio.
Completing the Volanta challenge for the RNAV W 02R.
Departing Rio, trying out the AIG mod and tweaking graphics settings.
Landing SBPK.
Departing SBPK for SAVT.
Landing SAVT.
Quick turn around for lunch and then a short 1.5 hour flight over to SFAL! Next post will be the last flight for this trek.
I’m pretty sure this is why our Delta flight was cancelled… ![]()
Congrats @TeTeT
