Pets of Mudspike

Good intel! Ralphie has always been a bit of a Gym Bro…too much bench and always skipping leg day. :joy:

His chiseled physique might not last long though as he pursues his mission as Cheese Tax Collector with a zeal unusual for a government official.

@BeachAV8R, her eyes look like they can see into your soul! I’d fear for my secrets.

We used to have a pack of three dogs. Sadly two passed away and we were left with our small pup. He could be lifted in one hand. Now at 60kg less so. I dont think I would even attempt it. We have decided he needs a pal so we have applied to let Maisie adopt us. She is a six year old gsd who gets on really well with other dogs. As a result of her service she has a few medical issues that will never go away. She has several commendations for bravery. I am sure her favourite game is chase and bite! Fingers crossed that she joins our pack. Several have voluntered to give her the forever home she deserves

What a beauty!

Bertil got a checkup at the vet and his vaccine today, as well as a haircut.

He’s knackered and needs some lap cuddle…

Love the haircut. Must be warm in North Norway.

Buddy had an accident, but he’ll be ok. Caused chaos in terms of our upcoming vacation, but I guess that’s how things rolls sometimes.

A weird incident really. My wife and daughter had the two dogs out in the river as per usual, Bud’s was running around in the shallow water and saw another dog - went to jump up on the bank to say hello and apparently completely screwed up the big leap - ended up impaling himself on a big tree root in the side of the riverbank. Such a one in a million odd thing.

At the time not really any blood or damage, but he cried like he had been shot. They got him back to the car, couldn’t see anything wrong but took him to the vets of course. By the time he was there an enormous bump on his front chest had developed (a hematoma, like a huge bruise full of blood). One week later he has the scheduled check up to make sure he was healing ok (he just had pain meds, anti inflammatory and zonk out pills) and they needed to do surgery quickly as the lump was not going down. They did some muscle repair work, drained the lump, he got about a million stitches and here we are. Here he is with lots of really great drugs.

He’s recovering ok, the t-shirt is to stop him licking the stitches (plus it looks better on him than it did on me). We were due to go see my family in the UK next week but that’s all had to be cancelled - we don’t want to leave him with anyone else like this.

We’re now up to about $8,000 in vet fees so far (we’re insured but they squirm of course), $6,000 ish in non refundable flight and hotel costs (we get some of it back, but cancellation insurance we had doesn’t cover pets). We were going to just move the flights but the BA reschedule fees and upcoming World Cup here in Vancouver means it’s a wash cost wise. All this from just a jump out of a river he’s done every day for years.

We’re just happy and grateful that he’s going to be ok but it just goes to show, like we got horribly reminded about recently, that life is a series of really weird curveballs and you have to just keep swimming.

Well, we’ve got midnight sun now…

Aw, Buddy… You’re not a pup anymore, are you..? You must be careful! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Yeah…

Oh wow…heal up Buddy. That must have been awful to hear him wailing like that. Glad he is on the mend and sorry it had such wide ranging ramifications on your travel plans.. :frowning:

Meanwhile me and Loki are getting along fabulously. He is so much fun…

Such great pictures guys!

@scoop Hope Maisie finds her new home with you…such a beautiful Shepard!

@Troll Bertil is looking dapper as ever.

@BeachAV8R Loki looks like he could not be more content there.

@fearlessfrog Poor Buddy! I hope he gets well soon. Nothing sadder than an injured pet. My best wishes for his speedy recovery. :crossed_fingers:t2:

Ralphie is living his best life. He’s getting up there, but he still has a little pup left in him.

An innocent pastoral scene. Fliss and I looking at a view restricted only by the curveture of the earth. Actualy a war is going on. Lunch. Zeus has got lock and is engaged in psychological warfare with me that it is his lunch.

Buddy having a laser treatment to help heal the muscles and stiches. Feels a bit ‘divining rod’ ish but the vet swears by it (stimulates blood vessels using light, um) and it’s covered by insurance. He looks like he’s about the break the world record for 100m breaststroke..
