Yeah, and that messes mostly with the world scale. But even if I set that to closely resemble my own size, looking at hands and legs, movement within the pit seems off. May have something to do with the FoV or something, I don’t know.
Just a sugestion because you brought up the “featureless brick wall”. If your space is dark or unevenly lit, this could be causing the problem. Them cameras need contrast to track. I have a window side and a wall side on the right. The wall side would get dark, and I had this centering and “sticking” problem. I put a LED lamp behind my monitor pointed at the wall on my right. It lights up that wall and away goes the problem. Just a hunch…
Other user of that room may object… but yes.

I am so glad that I don’t have epilepsy!
So, I have decided the thing gets to stay, despite the price and amount of ads/influencers pimax puts out. It is a fine bit of hardware.
Today I took delivery of a kit that enhances wear comfort of the headset, and that put it over the edge.
I am debating ordering stick-on prescription lenses like I have on the G2. On that headset they are a neccesity as that is focused to infinity, while on the pimax it’s about 10m iirc. So less eyestrain for my (very mild) prescription. Might not be worth it.
I’m still seeking out the perfect balance of settings and such, as there’s many levers to tweak.
I was seriously considering the Crystal light for my next purchase but the prime model is a turnoff for me. It seems like I’ll be renting the headset rather than owning it outright. I have to do more research because While I’m a cable subscriber, I know I can turn off the service and cut ties; however, that does not seem to be the case with the Pimax prime model. I don’t know… It could be all in my head but definitely requires more research because the Light is looking like it will be the the set for me. Oh well…
Well @schurem , here is my two cents. The strap may be nice. It may be nicer than the one I had since a taylor in Iraq made it for me. But I find the Pimax strap to be really good. It has that adjustment knob. Only thing is it need some cushion. I used foam but I am looking for something better.
Congrats on keeping it. In spite of the negative publicity, I have had a good time with mine. DLSS made the biggest improvement in visual quality.
where did you here the Pimax is focused at 10m??
I’d be interested in a source for that as well, it seems logical (and has been reported, but not by Pimax) that the wide angle pancake lenses are focused closer (for the individual lens, not the stereo image) than the narrow(er) angle fresnels used in other headsets?
I’m also not across a way to reliably measure the focus distance, I’d personally use a (D)SLR and manually focus with the lens front element roughly where your eye would be then read the focus distance off the lens… but you’d need to hard mount both the camera and headset to do that properly and even then I’m not sure the reading would be useful for more than a comparison between headsets (because the focus distance is actually measured from the sensor plane, not the front element)
It’s even less; 1m!
Confirmed here by a pimax official:
Thanks for the link! It’s good to have official word from Pimax
So what does that mean for those of us that wear glasses for distance Prescription?? Do I need to still get the prescription lenses?
I’d try it first and see. I didn’t need prescription lenses for my WMR headset. But the Quest 2 if focussed far enough out that they do make a noticeable difference.
Worst case would be getting lenses that suit your distance prescription and then finding it makes the image worse (I find that I need to remove my vision correction to read comfortably these days, but I am getting old )
Well either way but I think my dreams of getting a Pimax are on hold once again… but I could aways try and use my glasses if needed until I did get some prescription lenses…
thank you
So, being the fool I am, I thought I’d try this:

Haven’t gotten them to work yet, thought they are hanging on the thing (fabricating washers at 22:00 after a full days’ work != a fun idea). I reckon they don’t work yet because the contact points do not line up by shape, ie, they don’t ‘click’ into place.
Le edit: After some fiddling, just holding the thing in place, I got it to make sound. Trick is to seek contact on the horizontal pair of contacts (at least, it was for me).
I am now the proud owner of a frankenpimax.
Hey Very cool mod, I was wondering what you used to get the center peg filed down, do you use a file or a dremmel?
I designed and printed new connectors for my G2 headphones.
Let me know if you want me to print some for you.
