That’s really good mileage out of your 1080ti Sryan!
I had an old wifi router sitting around gathering dust as a spare that I ended up using to set up a completely separate 5GHz network for the Quest (I just set up the Wifi, turned off DHCP and the firewall and used a different wifi password so only the Quest will connect to it). This was also necessary in my case because my study doesn’t have good wifi coverage, being on a different floor to the rest of the living space.
I think a lot of more modern routers and mesh networks have the option of running a second, separate 5GHz network - I haven’t tried it but that might help?
Yes it still serves me well But admittedly, I’m keeping an eye out for a system with a 9800X3D and a good 5xxx card next year. The thing will be around 8 years old then, and I feel I got the money’s worth out of it now.
hey guys, I am looking for a better headstrap. there are so many on Amazon I was wondering if anybody has a reccomendation on one they have or tried?
I went with the Bobovr strap:

My used Q3 came with the BoboVR one and it feels great…but I have no basis of comparison. The battery on the back seems to balance the headset quite well though. I’ve spent hours in one span with this headset compared to my G2…mostly because the pass-through is quite usable. I mean…if you dim your cell phone down it doesn’t bloom and is very readable. Definitely my favorite VR headset to date…
well I have just minimal complaints and most can be fixed the big one for me is going to be able to get DCS to play no stutters or at least a minimal of stuttering like it was with the G2…
I am almost sold and dont want to return it. But if I have to I will but I have a while before I have to send it back…
I really want this to work… I will know sunday…
OK I am a dumbass I just now figured out how the stock Q3 Strap works lol!! I also watched some guides on tweaking the Oculus Debug Tool and WOW I have made great strides towards getting better performance and it looking good…
I think setting the bitrate to 900 helped immensly I think I can go as high as 950 with that setting but I will need to watch a more detailed guide on the OBT…
This is starting to look like a keeper. I just need to get the other strap and Cable and if that works out I will need to go get an eyeexam for glasses so I can get new lenses and I found an awesome place to et the lenses… they looked real Professional…
Yippe kai aye…
Thanks for sharing this thread @apollon01 … seems like lots of positive reviews from folks, especially those that were pretty happy with the G2. It’s definitely got me reconsidering VR again.
The New BoboVR M3 Mini is a decent headstrap. It makes the Q3 fir way better then the stock strap did and was well worth the money. now to see if it can stand the test of time…
I guess if I am careful with how I ratchet it dowen and take it off will help in keeping it last long…
well the short and sweet, I am sending the Meta Q3 back and gonna have to save and try a Pimax Crystal Light…
Quite a swing!
I’m curious too, and a little surprised… I’m sure the Crystal Light will have its strong points compared to the Q3, but it will have negative points too. The main downside to the Q3 is that you need to purchase some extra items to make it shine (new head strap, batteries for head strap if you go wireless or a link cable) and the fact that you have to be aware of the headset’s battery charge level. But once you get all that squared away, it really shines with great lenses, really good controller tracking, great pass through and the option to use it completely independently from your gaming PC if you want to.
I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Crystal Light when you get one though, and especially in comparison to the Q3.
Well I had bought an Iniu cable and it did not work. I then went back to my other cable that did and it was having issues connecting again. I then got that sorted but the main thing about the Q3 was the slight and annoying stutter looking out the sides in any module…
I could not live with thatafter having a really smoth experience with the G2. I really tried looking past it but in the end I could not and just decided with everything I been through and the slight stutter this just is not the headset for me…
Having really tried to like it but I been told they make it like it is to keep costs down but by time you add in the extras there is another 100usd spent on fixing what is wrong with it… I could have lived with the stock strap after I found out how to properly adjust it.
I am unsure if and when I will be getting the Pimax or if I ever will. Just going to keep the G2 until it expires I guess less cost and more money saved for me in the end… I am really thinking of just giving up the gaming as it is really turning out to be a very expensive hobby these days…
Has anyone tried the 5G hotspot method of PCVR with the Puppis S1?
I use the Pupis S1. It works great. I found that it eliminated almost all of my micro-stuttering issues when using a wireless headset connection.
Thanks Paul. I found a comment on YouTube that stated, “Sharing what I have learned after using the S1. The issue with using mode 1 (prism mode) is that it only uses the 2.4Ghz band. By using the S1 in hotspot mode you can take advantage of the 5Ghz band and increase the visual quality settings for PCVR games. Simply don’t connect other Wi-Fi devices to the S1 hotspot, so that the headset is all that is connected to the S1 (making it the same as using prism mode but with far more bandwidth available). Also, for the best online results, the PC should be connected to your (internet) router with an ethernet cable (not via Wi-Fi). Try to keep the S1 as close to your play area as possible and do not forget to set a password. Lastly, for online use, you will likely have to disable and re-enable Internet Connection Sharing after every reboot of the connected PC (even if you keep the S1 powered with an external adapter via the white USB-A 2.0 connection). Best of luck!”
Will give this a try and report back.
@The_Nephilim, I hope the Q3 eventually works out for you. I love this headset like no other piece of hardware I own that doesn’t actually fly…er…and the OneWheel. But my recommendation is always: go with Zuck’s cable. I hate giving that jerk even more of my money but aftermarket cables are a crapshoot (and usually just the first syllable.)
Ah, I guess I misunderstood what you were asking Dan. I’m just using it in Prism mode as far as I am aware. The image quality seems just fine to me but I would be interested to hear if you manage to squeeze any more performance from it.
well it has not worked out and I am sending it back… I will just continue using my G2 until I find a replacement…
I did give it a shot but for myself it did not work out.
