Proper gear there sir. I’m in an 80/20 rig myself with an OSW wheel system.
Photos please, if you have time.
Awesome!!
Yeah, that’s a serious rig you’ve got there Kinger. Love how you have your flight controls mounted in your race car
Thanks Chipwich. Yeah, you never know when you might want to drop some LGB’s on your competitors ya know?
Call me when you get it together @chipwich. I’d love to run some head to head DR2 Rallycross with ya and hear your yelling, “This is freeking AWESOME!”.
@chipwich: Which seat did you choose? I am torn between a bucket seat and a sports seat (eg. Sparco R100). Are the bucket seats comfortable enough, even for longer sessions?
I debated the choice for a few weeks, but eventually settled on the Sparco EVO XL QRT more for the size, due to me being a large dude. I also wanted a race seat for the stiffness and the looks, but probably went overboard with an FIA seat. The problem for me is that I don’t seem to fit in the normal racing seats, if I go by the published dimensions, and the larger seats tend to be pricey. The EVO XL is also light and fits a normal mounting bracket.
For comfort, the jury is still out. But in the 5 minutes that I sat my butt in it for sizing, it doesn’t have nearly the padding of my 12 year old Playseats rig. What would be best is of course to have a racing supply store near you so that you could try them on for size and comfort. The nearest one to me is a 4 hour drive one way, so I had to research seats rather then do an eyes-on comparison. I almost picked the R100, which is very popular, but in some of the videos that I watched about various driving rigs, I definitely saw some flex in the seat back due to it having a reclining mechanism. I also saw real world videos of people who had mounted them in their cars, which complained that the material wore quickly. May have been a case of over-researching an item, but this is wear I landed.
Deciding if I want to use the seat slider or not. It appears to be a PIA to put on, but I like the fact that it will raise the seat slightly and is easier to adjust than the pedal tray and steering fore/aft position.
Deciding on pedals try position and angle. So many choices.
I got this far, but the little col. came and reminded me that I had other obligations other than working on my race car. To be continued…
Sim racer Jimmy Broadbent got within 1 second of a pro racer on his first day in this million dollar simulator I think it’s running rFactor Pro …
EDIT: I loved how this scrawny nerd kept calling himself old and fat LOL! Like he was too fat for the racing seat. I’m so old and fat I could erase this guy from existence. I might still be able to squeeze myself into a Sparco EVO XL QRT though.
Old faithful has finally given up the ghost after 15 years of service. Been mended multiple times, glued soldered and patched up many times, it soldiered on always willing to be fixed.
We’ve seen many racing Sims together over the years, which started with GT Legends and finally through to DR2.
It’s this last bit of rally abuse which brought on the demise, I’m guessing due to a lot of play in a short few weeks.
Held together finally with gaffer tape, one Mudspike QL too far, something went ping and there’s no FFB, no steering and that electrical burning smell.
I’ve taken it apart, but sadly this Momo is deceased and no longer simply resting. I will miss you…
G920 inbound.
It was a great wheel for the price. I still have one as a backup.
Grats on the G920!
That’s awesome. I remember that wheel well. The G920 will be bulletproof and you can get some pretty good FFB in DR2 with it.
It took 3 months to get here, but my Aiologs Projects handbrake finally arrived. It’s a work of art, so much that perhaps the @Troll house of engineering would appreciate. The supplied mounting bracket worked perfectly with my Sim-Lab rig.
Badass set up chip!
Thanks Gunny. Appreciate it. I’m blaming coronavirus for getting me back into driving sims At least that’s what I tell Claudia.
Now get out there and chuck that Lancia (that’s your car of choice now, right?) around the dirt roads of New Zealand! No excuses with all that fancy equipment now, eh?
