Yea, for my eyes the best looking cars all came before the mid 90s. It’s hard not feeling sorry for Leclerc dinging Lauda’s Ferrari, but I think that it was the second time it had happened to the same car. It’s probably really hard for a driver not to want to give it spurs, especially being Monaco. They should probably have done it like the Top Gear episode when Lewis drove Senna’s MP4/4.
What I find interesting about the new car is the porpoising.
They are blaming it on the move to ground effect, which does make sense. But, I’m surprised that with all of the money and testing that they do in F1, that it wasn’t discovered sooner. For sure they need GE. IndyCar, with team budgets about 5% of an F1 team, doesn’t have the issue with their GE design
For first time Assetto Corsa drivers, other than the sim, there are two mods that are pretty much a mandatory install, and a third that is an environmental enhancement that most everyone installs.
Content Manager (CM): a mega utility/alternate launcher that not only manages add-ons similar to OvGME or JSGME, but also facilitates and tweaks most other mods. It has built-in tools that allow unpacking game files and a handy way to launch quick driving sessions without going through the normal kludgy interface. In fact it does so much, it’s almost like an operating system. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tetris is hidden in there somewhere. It can be daunting at first, but you can take it slowly, just using the content manager and game launcher at first, then move on to more complex tasks. It is an amazing piece of community developed software. There are free and paid versions which both work fine. I’m using the paid version, for nothing more than it’s an amazingly useful piece of software. You need it.
Custom Shaders Patched (CSP): even if you don’t want to tweak visuals with custom shaders, many, if not most mods, use it in one way or another. Can install and forget, or tweak with CM.
SOL: a visual enhancement and mostly optional. But it improves the environmental visuals so much, that you will wish you did. Like most things, can be installed and tweaked with CM.
A pretty good tutorial from 2021. Succinct, but covers the necessities.
I had a friend who used to manage the Vodafone relationship with Ferrari. I painted up an IL2 Spitfire with a Jensen Button Brawn Merc skin and a Bf-109 with a Michael Schumacher Ferrari skin and sent them to him to use in a PowerPoint presentation. He replied with 6 x all access VIP passes to the Indy GP. Was pretty incredible.
Adlabs and I were playing some Circuit Superstars this evening. It’s currently free to play this weekend on Steam. I encourage anybody that likes racing to check it out. It’s quite fun actually. Many types of cars/trucks to race.
I’m quite pleased with Circuit Superstars. Driving requires a bit more finesse than I expected, to get the competitive laps. I’m playing with an 8BitDo SN30 controller, and it works well.
It might surprise you. It’s not like Mario Kart or some racing games like that. Give it a go, and try the stadium super trucks at rally cross tracks and tell me that’s not fun as heck.
Yeah, same here. I drove a half distance race at Monaco this morning in AC in the RSS Formula Hybrid X 2022 Evo as Sergio Perez. Quallied 5th against 95% AI, which sandwiched me between Russell and Hamilton for the start. There must be some AI tweaking in the skin pack because Leclerc was on pole, followed by Verstappen, Sainz, Russell, and Chipwich (Perez).
Sainz had around a 7 second gap and we must have been turning identical lap times, because it remained that way until I caught when he was held up by back markers with only a couple of laps to go. Sainz proved to be impossible to pass, and we would finish that way.
BTW, I picked Softs, when everyone else was on Mediums. Although they helped me get by Russell, they were really bad the last 5 laps, when I brushed the Armco probably once a lap.
Naw, I actually have more fun driving the classic F1 and Indy cars. While I’m interested in the new tech, I’d rather drive with a stick and feel the cars slide. Like mid 70’s to late 80’s are the best. But I can’t help driving the new cars during the F1 season. It’s all good.
