I was thinking of the same thing about the Encore.
But ain’t no Encore getting up to 0.85…at least not more than once!

The good old Honeywell Primus 2000 suite is used in a number of airplanes including the Gulfstreams of that era. I’m more of a Collins fan myself though.
The size of the HUD is a little misleading. It only appears large in the photo because of the position of the camera. The HUD itself hangs down in front of you, while the projector is behind and above your head. You have to sit at just the right height and distance to get the full HUD picture.
For a long time I have avoided using the HUD because my landings were far better without it. I am making a concerted effort to change that though because there are benefits to using it.
I think all in all we’ve got a pretty amazing wealth of knowledge and experience on here from a variety of backgrounds, both military and civilian. Definitely a community I’m proud to be a part of.
It’s funny, I’ve always toyed with the idea of creating a youtube series in which myself and a couple friends booted up DCS, BMS, or whatever, and opened up a new bottle of scotch/bourbon/choose your poison. It’d be titled “Bottle to Throttle” and naturally start as a semi-serious flying and devolve to hilarious shenanigans. Something I’ll ever actually do? Probably not. But something I chuckle at the idea of, at least.
Am I crazy or does that have a NVIS/FLIR overlay on the HUD?
You are not crazy, although in the civilian world we call it EVS (Enhanced Vision System) for some reason.
The Global 7000, which I am probably going to be flying three years from now, will have a synthetic vision overlay on the HUD in addition to EVS. Pretty amazing technology for a business jet!
Because FLIR looks terrible in a brochure…
I volunteer as tribute.
Man…if I had to drink every time I got shot down, I’d be on the floor in an hour.
Let’s do it! I’ve got a bottle of Mcallans ready to go.
Mudspike FUI night?
Can we do it after the beginning of August? Cutting back the drinking until then.
I’ll handle @Navynuke99’s portion of Grog till his bilges are clean
I might have to run this by my lawyers… ![]()
Technically it all takes place on private property so we should be good to go.
And the FAA doesn’t govern online flying, right? (Though, seriously, I know Twitch has a policy about streaming while drinking.)
Unfortunately I’m pretty booked with work for a while so I’d be out regardless.
Wait, what?
A little meme for Twitch

That’s, like, the wrong meme.
Did you just assume that meme?!?
So they don’t prohibit drinking per se, but “drinking excessively.”
I’m guessing it’s more directed at the dudes that get black out drunk and pass out during their stream.
It was only once.
Besides,
