With the book or The Aircraft?? I would think License with the later would of been completed before ED even accepted the module
The first delay was blamed on Launch video/PR not being completed on time…this delay just stated as “Beyond Anyone’s Control”…I’m starting to think pre-order day might be much Better Day than We All Expected??
One would certainly hope, haha! Can you imagine if Boeing was like “Wait, what? No!”
“Introducing the BazRam F-51Z Rike Regal, a fictional 4th gen ground attack/multirole two-seat fighter produced by the fictional MacDonnel-Drugless corporation.”
I’m almost positive that Boeing was on board with the licensing agreement
I remember the Legal Debacle our Dear Friend Oleg Maddux got into some 25yrs ago when he listed Grumman on The Box of his expansion for IL 2 “Pacific Fighters “ that was pretty much a Death Sentence.
I’m not saying they weren’t. I don’t have any insight in the matter, but I have noticed the absense of the Apache name in the module.
Could be several reasons. One is that Boeing simply didn’t want to release the use of the name or that they may have licensed it for use by another flightsim developer…
Could be something similar with the Strike Eagle.
Copyright and licensing matters can be very specific and as you mentioned, they are not always settled in time for the release.
All American Army helos are named after Native American tribes. Will the ARMY stop using Kiowa, Iroquois, Black Hawk and Chinook? Im not Native American but i dont find it offensive.
Perhaps we should care about naming Russian planes offensive names like the Fagot, the Frog foot and the Felon. Now thats offensive!
Sorry, back to the Eagle.
I heard a US Army pilot mention in a podcast once, I think regarding the Apache specifically, that the Army had actually visited the Chief(s) or council of the tribe to inquire as to whether any offense was taken to the name. According to the interviewee the answer was not only no, but that the tribe was honored by the selection referencing their proud warrior tradition.
Anyway, yes, I have to wonder if there’s some issue with licenses somewhere - it could even be the music for the launch video. Who knows.
Yeah, that is a jungle… It could litterally be the smallest issue ever, but if it’s on somebody IPR list, then things has a tendency to grind to a halt.

“Making good progress & having fun while working. Off course everything on the pictures is subject to change and WiP. Have a great day, everyone!”
It was going to be simply “Falcon” for the F-16, simple bird of prey name.
Then Dassault got in a tizzy because that was their bizjet.
So the stupid “Fighting” addon was thrown in. I guess picking another bird name would have been seen as caving, but not changing would have been seen as poking France in the eye. So a compromise was struck that left everyone disappointed. SUCCESS!
