RAZBAM F-15E

Xbox controller for sure, same as with the Apache front seat.

Cool…Yea I’m hoping Razbam will compartmentalize controls similar to DCS Apache.
Question For you guys who fly in VR…Is a third(XBox) controller hard to get used to rather then using your normal HOTAS??

For me it is about the same… just a few more buttons to memorise.

Plus because you don’t have to concentrate on flying it is also easy enough (for me) to use the mouse for the couple of functions that I couldn’t map to the controller (ran out of buttons)

E.g. my Apache set-up for the LH grip on the TEDAC is:
TADS FOV = D pad
Curser/Enter = LH thumbstick
WAS = Mouse (generally if I’m in the front seat it is pretty much always Missile)
Sensor Select = Bottom trigger. Select TV for day missions, FLIR for night… But it is a bit of a pain to have to edit settings dependent on mission time, so if anyone knows if can be set to toggle between sensors I’d really like to know how because I am currently using the mouse to select the alternate sensor.
Weapon Trigger = Upper trigger
LMC = Button 9 (Logitech controller), will probably change this to one of the autotrack modes.

Buggered if I know what I am going to do when they ā€˜activate’ the radar?

Personally, I’ve got an old Warthog that is my sidestick controller for flying the F-16. I’ll probably use that as the right hand controller, and buttons and axes on the throttle for the left (hopefully there is a separate keybinds menu for the backseater!)

From Baltic.D FB
" So, the #StrikeEagle A/A radar… the document below lists only basic RWS and TWS, and there are also 5 auto-acquisition modes plus several special ones. Oh, and separate symbology for AIM-120 and AIM-7. Doing my best to break it all down in the most comprehensible way. Hm, and did I mention different HOTAS commands for each of them?"

Oh boy, Hours and Hours of fun.

Heck take the tanks off and but 2 GBU-28s on and put a AGM-130 on the centerline…

I also love that the Aim-9s are in the correct spot!

With that Bomb truck payload and a Gas Station amount of Fuel it’s going to be hard going back to my Sporty Little Viper :grinning:

That looks like a pretty creative attack profile for Mk 82’s… Maybe they’re trying to hit a Helicopter somewhere…

High altitude radar bombing: when you have this many Mk82’s, quantity has a quality all its own!

That actually makes me curious what role(s) the Mudhen is/was intended for. These days it’s most known for dropping LGBs and JDAMs on tents, but that’s true for just about every modern jet. Prior to Desert Storm, Vipers were doing pops with Mk8x bombs, and during Desert Storm they were still doing HADB with Mk8x. Transitioning to smart weapons was, Allied Force or thereabouts? Is it the same progression with the Mudhen?

I think back then it was thought that the guided weapons mission needed a second crewmember (if not a second jet!) - and the expense and rarity of LGBs probably led to them being only used by the F-111s and F-15Es.

But I could be misremembering about that?

I’ll have to dig up a book on it. I read Vipers in the Storm ages ago and it gave a lot of insight to how the Viper was used back then. I’ve seen a few episodes of 10 Percent True but there’s been a lot more focus on Allied Force and after.

Good read, that has a lot of the answers to those type questions.

Unfortunately, I loaned my copy to my farther, and I read it probably 10 years ago. So, I don’t recall the answers
