RAZBAM F-15E

Has anyone tried the DTT functionality of the AN/APG-70? I just did and let me tell you, holy sh*t it’s a powerful tool.

I engaged a two ship, I believe they were Su-27, send the first two AMRAAMs at 45 miles to force them defensive. They split and defeated the first two missiles, one stayed high, the other went low, forcing me to either drop one contact or quickly switch to dual target track before I lost the secondary track. I had switched from 2TWSH to 3HDT once they started maneuvering which gave me some wiggle room but I still had to be quick. Once in DTT the radar jumps between the targets in a very narrow pattern to keep track of them and it worked beautifully. I splashed the high guy on my 11 o’clock at 20nautical miles/angels 24 when he turned back into me and hit the low guy on my 2 o’clock shortly after at 15nautical miles/angels 8 all while staying up at 34000ft.

That is cool - I wasn’t even aware of this feature but now I am definitely going to work out how to use it!

With good tracks in any TWS mode (2TWSH, 4TWSH, NARROW, 3HDT, 2HDT) and a primary target (PDT) selected, you can press TDC long on a secondary target (SDT) to enter dual target track. The radar will switch to a very narrow pattern that quickly jumps between the two tracks. You will of course lose any other tracks you might have had in your standard TWS modes but it allows you to track and engage two targets that split and maneuver to vastly different altitudes and far apart, something no TWS mode can do.

You still switch your PDT by pressing coolie hat up short, just like you would in TWS.

Preplanned JDAMS are crazy. 7 bombs off in less than 5 seconds and all 7 on target. Crazy easy!

I’m missing something when it comes to preplanned JDAMS and so far no tutorial has helped. It seems so much harder than the 16 or the 18

I think it’s got some extra steps compared to the Hornet and Viper but is still straightforward. With the JDAM page up, you highlight the desired scratchpad section with the up/down arrow choices on the MFD, input the coordinates and elevation via the UFC, then MSN XFR to handoff the coordinates, then step to the next rack for the next target.

This help me. Casmo did a good quick job. A quick note, use direct and step. I couldnt ripple but direct and step was perfect.

BD has updated The Manual
" Updated version of the manual is available for download. It includes updated IFF and AAI sections plus AGM-154A (although the latter is used exactly in the same way as JDAMs). Get it here: http://tinyurl.com/F15Emanualdec #dcs #dcsworld #f15eagle #f15

I am trying to make sure I have the correct understanding, I fear I might have it backwards or even sideways. When I’m using the A2G radar in an attempt to bomb things I can directly designate targets off a target point. It’s when I am trying to get the radar onto something that isn’t radar distinct.

When setting up my points in the mission editor is the “offset point” a) where the actual target I am trying to drop bombs on located, or is it b) the radar distinct point that I can lock onto?

Also what is the difference between a “offset point” and a “aim point”?

Maybe it’s just how it’s written but the entire section on adding points in the mission editor just doesn’t track for me.

UPDATE: Alright going line by line in the manual and doing some more testing, I believe I answered at least one of my own questions.

An “offset point” is offset reference a target point, and an “aim point” is offset reference a steer point. I am still very unclear on the practical difference of the two.

If I am doing things correctly, the “offset point” is B, the radar distinct point that I can lock onto. If what I’m doing is the correct way, updating the offset location as necessary shifts the actual target point correspondingly. I’m assuming updating an “aimpoint” shifts the corresponding steer point?

IIRC this is only relevant if you disable sat nav or the mission date is set pre-GPS (I believe the cut-off is late 90ies). You need to update your INS in order to deliver your weapons with precision, especially when using smart weapons or auto delivery modes for dumb bombs.

Set the offset to a distinct feature that will clearly show up on your HRM and you can update your INS just prior to your attack run with ease.

Offset point/Aim point nomenclature is confusing when you also consider that an aim point on a CCIP run is the point behind the intended target where you place your velocity vector.

As for INS updates, do we have that ability? I recall some discussions elsewhere (don’t remember where/when, probably reddit or the ED forums) where the INS update function hasn’t been coded into the module yet.

It works, yes, but you just don’t need it with GPS enabled, I have used it a few months ago. Notso even has a pre-release video demonstrating the feature.

What was confusing me, is that if I recall correctly in the F-18, you can pick a steerpoint, set offset aim point (OAP) from that steerpoint, and then directly target the OAP.

Is there a way to do that in the F-15E?

Hmm I wonder if I can convert the offset point to a target point?

I think this is the video @Derbysieger is referring to. It lenghty but a great example how to use the radar and setup a mission with pre planned offsets for manually fixing the radar:

Here is a timestamped links to answer this question from Notso himself:

So it’s b) from you first question.

Thank you, yes that’s it. Really good videos by notso. I didn’t have the time to look it up at work.

Nothing like hearing it from a pro. Lots of great cues in that one.

I really enjoyed this one. Simply watching it boosted my confidence that I could land the jet like a pro.
