Razbam's Emb-312 Tucano

I know some people are “trainered” out…but this looks awesome. I get that DCS World is a game…and running around blowing things up is why a majority of people are playing it, but from a real pilot perspective, this looks like a real nice basics platform. Sure, similar type of duty as the Hawk or C-101, but everyone has their preferred ride, so more trainers that lead to more people wanting more advanced modules is always a good thing.

It’s also worth mentioning that I think there is a fairly descent pie chart portion of DCS flyers who aren’t necessarily interested in killing 12 tanks and 6 anti-aircraft emplacements on each mission. Some of us derive a lot of pleasure out of the planning, flying, and execution of even simple “low conflict” missions with very specific, limited, and achievable goals (hey…a lot like real military flying!). From that standpoint, these armed trainer/COIN aircraft are very appealing to people like me. I get that it isn’t for everyone though…just giving the reasons behind my enthusiasm.

Thanks for the update…

Absolutely. I think the massive mission during the last fly-in proved that, and I think the continuing popularity of Falcon BMS further validates that.

I’ll admit I’m not marketable for every trainer anymore. But the Tucano sure is on the list. For starters it’s a bit of a lookalike to the PC7 Pilatus, despite vastly different stats. The pilatus being the trainer of my country’s airforce. I don’t think we’ll ever see a PC7 in DCS so I’ll gladly settle for the AT27. I also think it still offers something unique. A twin seat turboprop sounds like a lot of fun with a friend. Same reason I’d like a pucará. I don’t think it compares much to the hawk, c101 or L39.

Now if only we’d also get a naval trainer. Then I am golden for trainers.

The Hawk just needs a tail hook and Voilà! You now have a T45 for carrier training.

I’ve wished for years that I could add a tailhook to the Su-25T to sorta make it a Su-25UTG.

Or a proper MiG-29K.

That’s not quite a trainer, @Navynuke99.

The twin seat MiG-29KUB is, though :stuck_out_tongue: although it still got full combat capability.

Very cool footage there! Here’s the plane I’m going to try to emulate with the Tucano

Bit of a headset warning on this one. It aint that bad but the video opens immediatly with a salvo from a pair of Slovenian M-84 MBT’s.

Already done @BeachAV8R, here is one waiting to be attached

I honestly adore COIN aircraft and light attackers.

One could even accuse me of being COIN operated. Or a COIN collector.

The Tucano is going to be on my list of purchases, for sure. If only there were a dynamic campaign in DCS that allowed you to have an impact on the outcome of a conflict by taking out supply routes for insurgents. You’d open yourself up for scenarios from hunting the Ho Chi Minh trail to attacking movements of troops and supplies in the Afghan mountains in both the 80s and 00’s-Now.

[quote]Hey guys,

Work on the RAZBAM DCS: AT-27 flight model is getting started, and I would like to work in parallel with a few live at-will (and at your convenience) testers.

I would like three testers total, to work in a team as well as independently. I’ve asked two, and only one has accepted so far (the other is undecided). Please, provide some reasons why you would make a great tester!

It doesn’t seem like it should be a big deal, but I’m really looking to assemble a small team of real know-it-alls as opposed to a reckless squadron of…whatever you want to call it. The two that I’ve asked are people who I know to be very intelligent, reliable testers. However, they have no evident specialized experience with the AT-27. I need to fill that space.

Some desirable experience:
T-27 Operation or Maintenance Experience*
PT6A-25C (or any variant PT6A) Operation or Maintenance Experience*
Light Turboprop Aircraft Flight Experience
Portuguese-Speaking

And clarification:
The AT-27 EFM is pre-Alpha at this time (work has really just begun)
I can’t promise you any form of compensation at this time
You can test at your convenience, but at least 2-4 hours/wk is best
You will need to sign an NDA

If you don’t want to reply to this thread, feel free to PM me with interest or question/clarifications/concerns.

Thank you!

Hmmm PT6A experience. Check. It’s been awhile though. @BeachAV8R you would be good for this

Yeah - I’m pretty current on the PT6A-42, but I feel like I couldn’t give maximum effort to testing with all I have going on in my life. I’d rather people with the time and dedication could help make it right…
