Red Star Sims - DCS MiG-17F

I think it is because fighters use odd numbers and other aircraft use even…

But then again, the MiG-28 is even…

MiG Bureau infact had an even numbered aircraft, the MiG-8, but it was a prototype.
About the line, between Mi23 and 29, we still have rhe 25 and 27 (a ground attack version of 23). My dream is to have a MiG-31 with multicrew, BUT because MiG31 is a strategic weapon and not tactical as all other fighters, MiG-31 is highly classified ad not even in 20 or 30 years we can have detailed infos about it.

BTW, to give you a real answer instead of just crap?

I’m not entirely sure if there IS rhyme or reason to it, that’s always a possibility when dealing with Soviet systems.

The popular answer is that fighters (fighter-bombers and ground attack aircraft included) got odd numbered designations while bombers got even.

But, that can’t be correct or at least consistent:
Yak-28 - Used as an interceptor as well as a light bomber.
Yak-38 - Definitely a fighter-bomber. And a mess.
Tu-95 - Kiiiind of the big one.

So, I can’t say with any certainty.

I just wondered if there was a reason behind it … so what you are saying is basically it’s just Russian … :grinning:

Tu-22

Makes sense to me.

No rule is without exception.

This was originally known as the Tu-20

Multiple in this case.

Exceptions then…
Seems to be valid for MiGs though.
