For reference, this is the P-51D-20NA from IL2 '46, a model effectively made in 2002-2003 (P-51D-5 was introduced at the tail end of IL2FB prior to AEP):
If it matched the other promotional material then I could see it fitting, but as it stands it looks like someone based the model off of an inaccurate toy. That would be OK if the general idea was a la Airfix Dogfighter but the other info suggests that it’s supposed to be a bit more serious than that.
Yea I found one on amazon as well. Half the fun is in the hunt tho. I’ll probably play it for an hour and then never think of it again… But the 2 weeks Hunting for a copy will be a giggle!
Maybe.
But if in the promo material they can’t bother to put all the props in the right direction (i.e.: was simply cut, flipped, pasted) I can hardly believe there’s much behind that.
I’m afraid it’s going to be another attempt at grabbing users by their nostalgia.
I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but War Thunder (with all its quirks and inconsistencies) is going strong since 2013 adding tons and tons of content every year and - this is not small - refining constantly every aspect.
From more obvious like graphics and sounds, to true radical gameplay changes and additions.
Anyone trying to settle in the courtyard of Online Massive battles has to be absolutely perfect or be shredded by the community.
So far I haven’t seen perfection.
At all.
There’s lots of work there- I’m not dissing them- and I truly hope they try to defend the heritage of Microprose but what I see and read it’s quite disheartening.
This is for different crowd than War Thunder, you do not grind anything here, you just play for the trill of battle, helping capturing airfields and winning the war… jumping on a raid with 40-50 other people, flying low for 30min - 1 hour and then attacking ground targets by surprise, calling in a paratroop plane to drop troops and capture the field… it’s for those type of people, war thunder cannot do that.
