RTT from ConTrollR

Four flap positions enough?
Should be…

The Flap Handle.
Just need to fabricate some nifty little knob, on top.

The old 3D printed aluminium Flap handle, repurposed for new use!

In the box.

Flap up.

Flap full.

I spend way too much time on the details…

Since I had to cut open the box cover in order to fit it over the Flap handle, I had a nasty hole to fill.

I made a small 90° bracket that I attached to the base of the Flap mechanism, and glued a alu piece that sits flush with the cover.

That’s some amazing attention to detail right there!

@Troll, you’re an artist.

Home again. Raided the post office for two packages…
One was the gear handle and cover, from Shapeways.com.
I just love seeing my 3D creations com alive…!

This is the plastic formerly known as ‘Strong&Flexible’. Now they call it ‘Versatile Plastic’ and they offer a ‘Premium’ surface treatment that removes almost all steps from the printing process.

I will paint the cover aluminium, but I think I’ll keep the handle white. Maybe with a clear coat, because…

…there’s no denying that looks awesome!!

Some dry fitting to see where to put the gear handle, and how much space there will be between the handles in a full flap and gear up situation.
I’d like to put in at least two switches between the handles.

So, this will be the layout.
I could add more switches or buttons, but it would just make it harder to find them as I fly in VR.
And even if a gear up/flap full situation isn’t that common, I don’t want switches that are hard to reach because of the gear or flap handles.

Did the wiring and MMJoy2 setup today.
Everything works just perfect!
Now I have to map everything in the sims again…

Remember the battle of the handles…?

The new RTT module necessitated a change and the horizontals won in the end… :disappointed:

Congratulations, @sobek, @Freak, @Hangar200 and @komemiute

The RTT received a slight remodelling and a brush-up…

OMG. I might need one of those…

That little controller

How much you want for it?

No but seriously— how much?

I need to know…
If I were to say ”It’s not for sale” or something like that, will there be a huge tooth-pick chewing mafia dude, all dressed in black, wearing shades even if it’s raining, on my doorstep tomorrow..?

Why are you so worried? We’re friends.
Like this you… you disrespect me.

Heheheh, but seriously- I’m fine with some instructions on how to make it myself.

We’ll fix that! No worries! :sunglasses:

So, the RTT is back where it started…almost.
This falls under the ”why did I not think of this, the first time?” category.

My newly 3D printed trim knobs and wheel…
They fit!

After a layer of spray filler and sanding.

Two layers of paint later…

3D Printer is alreay showing it’s value

Did you have to spend much time tinkering?
