Do the flashlight! If it doesn’t work then in your Windows Update dialog, they’ll be a OS Build Info link that might still say Version 1803 (rather than the magic 1809 My Documents Deleter Edition)

So the WMR flashlights are actually pretty useful. Weird but useful…
You point the controllers and it gives you a live video feed of where they are looking.

The ‘Record Video’ function is much improved in 1809. You just press the Windows button on either controller hit the ‘record’ icon and it dumps something in your Pictures\Camera Roll folder. Here I just mess around in the ‘house’. The Desktop ‘tile’ in the house is actually pretty readable (although this video is very compressed via imgur for free hosting, it appears much clearer in the headset for me):
The new ‘SteamVR Home’ guy allows you to launch Steam apps direct from WMR.
In SteamVR apps like DCS it actually works pretty well, no particular performance loss:
Plus of course, you can use the Flashlight in DCS as well!
This could be very useful (as in…I’m finding my beer)…or very terrifying (as in…why is that person standing next to me…??!)…
That…is a very large bird.
The environments are kind of neat to mess around with. This is probably old news and maybe even a feature of Big Screen or whatever…but in the Mixed Reality Portal / Cliff House you can go down into the theater room and put a movie screen up on the wall. What I found sort of neat was that if you play a movie, the sound is directional - coming from the movie screen. So if you move your head left and right, there is a stereoscopic effect as the volume changes in each of your ears. As well, as you move further from the screen, the volume diminishes. If you are in another part of the house, you can barely hear it. As well, the room has a little bit of an echo to it, making you feel like you are in a larger room. I wonder if furnishing it more would dampen some of that echo. I’m going to need a throw rug…
Cool, I didn’t notice the sound before. That theater room has a button on the right as you go through the door. Looks like a planet icon. If you press that it turns the area into an outdoor arena. I’ve been pretty impressed with WMR so far - neat.

So Widmo VR sent me a set of sample lenses to test in the O+ to make sure that their original Odyssey lenses still fit the new model. They were having trouble getting an O+ in Europe, so just overnighted the frames to me. The lenses fit just fine and other users have reported similarly…so it looks like they have all the tooling already in place for the O+. I have prescription Widmo VR lenses on the way now! A big shout-out to that company because they have exceptional customer service and responsiveness…
