Scale Modellers, lets talk :)

Thanks. It’s quite…varied

I really need to add a Bf109 and Fw190, but I’m beginning to get worried about display space when I finish all these…

I’ve just started the Zvezda 1/72 Su33 Flanker - and its great quality, good moulding, good fit and great surface detail…highly recomended
(That said i’ve got the Hasegawa Su35 in my stash and that looks top notch too)
Think there are plenty of good Flanker options at the moment
. I have never been happy with representing models with the gear down and the flaps up.
I used to be that way. There is something cool about seeing the aircraft “in flight”.

I eventually went to them sitting on their gear, a bunch of ordnance on the wings, and canopy down/pilots in. “Ready to taxi” as it were. Being a “groundpounder” it is how I see jets up close anyway. LOL

If they are being made for the ceiling display in my boys bedroom I have them gear up and “wings back” so to speak…

If they are being made for me they are desk bound and wheels down and loaded down heavy.
Needless to say I’ve never made one with the wheels down as of yet and the airspace above Obis bed is some of the most congested and dangerous in Britain lol

I’m surprised all that ATC chatter doesn’t keep him awake at night. :open_mouth:

Seriously, all those planes will end up being one of the fondest memories of his life.

About to attempt to start my Metal Earth F4U Corsair model type thing. Any bets on it looking like this when done?

If you are careful, it might look that good…

I’ve put together the Metal Earth Corsair (and a dozen other models from the same guys) and they’re pretty straightforward. Perhaps I’m more patient and dexterous than the average Joe, but as long as you have a nice pair of small needle-nose pliers, take your time, and be careful, you should be fine.

so there is no hope then

The Su-25 is on my list! I saw some Su-25K and Su-25SM kits at my local store, from a Czech brand that I can’t even remember, but I passed them up due to the price. I should probably go back and nab one before they vanish.

I really need to get off my butt and finish the LHD-7. I’ve been experimenting with a diorama base and trying to get some ocean effects. Just aluminum foil, white glue, primer/paint, and acrylic polymers brushed on, mounted on top of some styrofoam.

Damn, that looks good!
Could you elaborate a bit on the technique?

I keep telling myself to stop adding to my stash, and yet here I am…

I’ll probably do the Hellcat once I finish the LHD-7.
