I really like how in Sea Power the ships are engaging missiles with their DP naval guns (looking at you DCS…). Those AA bursts going up around incoming missiles makes all those scenes so much more visually exciting.
A play through some scenarios, a bit long, but I found it to be entertaining: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8-a5Qgjbo0
the mighty jingles is always a good watch
Are the little ‘tails’ for the contacts pointing in the opposite direction to what they typically do in these kinds of games?
I feel like they usually point in the opposite direction of travel, kinda like a ship’s wake.
He is, I used to always have him comment on world of warships replays while doing the dishes. He sucks at Sea Power however. He missed his Seasprites having sonobuoys and I don’t know if I’d play the Hormuz run any better, there’s a LOT of incoming in there, but losing the fox that early in the game…
The dipping sonar thing is curious. Two tubers have said the helos in that Charlies scenario don’t have dipping sonar, but watching Stealth17’s video I was sure I saw some being deployed when the helos were low and stopped/slow. May be an automated thing or not being piucked up in the game yet (excuse the quality of this grab. Its not a torpedo or sonobuoy, it was being trailed behind the helo as it was moving off)?
Got to say though, really looking forward to the release of this - making me fire up Cold Waters and getting Dangerous Waters flashbacks. Loved prosecuting subs withb the OHP’s helos.
MAD I’d guess based on the shape.

You want the dipping sonar at least out of the water before you move off. The MAD streams behind the helo in flight so I don’t think you’d deploy it until you’re at a decent clip and at a decent altitude, so it doesn’t trail in the water.
Thanks - that makes sense
@jenrick is right, that is a MAD. I don’t think these Sea Sprites have a dipping sonar. The Sea kings do have their dipping sonar modeled
Gosh, if I didn’t already suck at CMANO, I’d totally get this one too…
Its annoying isnt it. I’m awful at it
I haven’t found the time to play enough CMANO to honestly say I suck at it I will buy this title on principle and if @komemiute doesn’t buy it just to send A-6s to bomb suspected truck parks in the jungle, I will gift his arse a copy.
Crazy dutchman.
But yeah the mental image of the Intruders with the amazing graphics of this game… makes me all tingly.
Not to mention a campaign based off Red Storm Rising. Or Hunt for Red October.
I’m positively salivating.
I’m looking forward to hopefully control my carrier air wing over the virtual waters. Frankly, combat will be interesting as well, but if I get a version of Carrier Deck++, I’ll be very happy
I’ve been eyeing it for a while but I tend to get information overload and have declined adding it to my library. Admittedly, Sea Power is calling my name. I suspect I will suck at it but I am willing to give it a go.
That should quite literally be that games title.
Watching the various Youtubers play Sea Power has been pretty painful at times Jingles not realising his ASW helos have sonobuoys and MAD, not slowing down to improve his ship’s sonar performance, not using active sonar even when already being fired upon, not counter firing… Isn’t he a former submariner or something? Seems almost deliberate…
He was on frigates and destroyers I think, and I believe he was a quartermaster or disbursing clerk…? And I didn’t know if the Royal Navy has an ESWS equivalent thing that’s supposed to teach you the basics of how your ship fights.
There was a retired US Navy STS type I used to watch, but I quit watching his stuff years ago for a lot of reasons.
There’s a former Enterprise nuke MM I know who’s been streaming for a bit, but he’s also been really busy helping with Starship Simulator, so I doubt he’ll be doing this one any time soon.
