Sea Power : Naval Combat in the Missile Age

Regarding CMANO, use the pause button. Real world if you are the tactical commander, you have an air defense commander, a surface warfare commander, etc. to delegate things to. Yes you need to keep an eye on things, but overall you’re job would be to look at the big picture. CMANO has you planning egress routes and tanker timings, while running the helo ASW screen all at the same time. I use pause liberally and have a great time.

I try to do that too.
I just always seem to forget something.

Sigh

I just get absolutely battered in even the simplest engagements

Oooooh, good to know. I’m pretty sure I’ll be taking a lot of that week off anyway.

Quite excited. I really enjoyed Janes Fleet Command, and CAMNO/Command. I just always wished the latter two had the eye candy of the first.

And some carrier battle group taking care of business:

I’m excited.

I even fired up Cold Waters again, just to get my eye in:

Might have jumped the gun a bit… But I live to fight another day.

Same - Cold Waters is still great

A good look at the what-if scenario where the Soviet Union built a supercarrier-esque vessel.

I’ll never have time to play this game, but the P-3 gameplay I’ve seen pop up on YouTube piqued my intrests since my dad was an AT (MAD boom specifically) on those back in the mid-70s.

Dangerous Waters is THE definitive P-3 simulator from the tactical standpoint. I Steam has it for $3 right now.

If only it was easy and reliable to get to work on modern windows versions :frowning: Then I would still play it.

The steam version runs on W10 with zero issues for me.

It also runs really great on Linux apparently. You could try it on Steam Deck if you’re willing to put in the time to map/learn controls

Will have to
Re-install and give it a throw

Unfortunately, not for me :frowning: I installed it, and get to the launcher. But when I then try to boot it up I get a black screen for a bit and then it crashes.

It does so indeed, apparently! I tried streaming it to my pc but it appears in a 4:3 format where the sides are clipped off, I can only see the center of the screen. I cannot adjust any of the settings for resolution, there’s only 800*600 to choose.

Shame that didn’t work nicely. I guess most people stream the other way around.
If you wanna play with mouse and keyboard, you could use a dock or adapter for HDMI, USB-A and power, or just skip the Deck and install Linux Mint if you have a smaller SSD you can make available.

EDIT: Assuming you have an Nvidia card, Bazzite or Pop!_OS probably works better than Mint

I checked and the executable is set to Win XP svc pack 3 compatibility.
