The beautiful box art by Masao Satake, of the DML 1/35 OH-6A Cayuse ”Miss Clawd IV”, flown by Hugh L. Mills

That is beautiful. Not sure about the gun on the left though.

The minigun? What about it?

I don’t think they elevated them down (is depressed the word?) like that.

Cool. Time to reread LLH.

I’m thinking the same… Great book.

UPS arrived an hour and a half after I left the house for a work trip…which then extended by three days .

Mr Murphy is alive and well…

Coincidentally I sent a message to Virpil yesterday asking for an update on my order. They still have a backlog for the Apache grip and expecting to ship mine in mid-January.

That’s frustrating. I’m sure it will be worth the wait though. Some of the issues seem to be based on location and logistics. I know that one YouTuber posted a review of exactly the same combo I ordered. He placed his order two days after I did through the EU store and took delivery a few days later. I ordered from the US stores and waited over a month. 1st world problems I guess.

Frustrating yes, but also half expected. I figured that the Apache grip would be the most popular, especially with their sale and I have a sneaking suspicion that Virpil keep very little ‘read-to-ship’ stock on hand and items are manufactured or assembled as they are ordered.

But, like you said. 1st world problem and no point in throwing a tantrum.

They do batch production as they have several products in their lineup. So, not exactly per order, but they don’t produce that much over the anticipated demand, either.

I’ve had my Apache grip since March now. Still haven’t used it… Been so occupied with the Viggen stick.

All set up. The SimFab mounting kit works well but it takes some playing around to get the ergonomics just right.

The only disadvantage of this setup is having to move the throttle farther out to the side. You can still reach it just fine but it isn’t optimally placed. I don’t see a way around that though.

Just think about it like you’re in something spacious like a F-15, rather than an F-4 or a Mirage :sunglasses::+1:

Setup looks spectacular though

Thanks, it’s a far cry from what some folks have built but I am happy with it… although there are always additional things that find their way onto my wish list.

I’m thinking of getting the Winwing panel that @komemiute got for Christmas this year… but I’m on the fence right now.

Nice.

I have seen some set-ups with the NLR Boeing seat (which I have) but it is the reverse of yours (i.e. the collective is mounted outboard of the throttle). That would be worse IMHO.

I will wait until mine arrives, but I have pretty much resigned myself to swapping throttle quadrant for collective as required? It is only two bolts and will be less of a PITA than swapping the rudder pedals for G27 pedals when I want to play racing sims.

What’s the size of the square tube here?

Do you use the throttle when you fly helicopters?
If you do, I could make an arrangement where you can move the throttle closer to the chair, over the collective, but with an adjustable joint that will let you pivot the throttle to the left. You will still be able to reach the throttle switches, but they will be canted out.
Get me more pics from the side and above…

If it’s of any help, it’s really a fantastic panel.
Whereas the Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle has switches that only register one way, the WinWing panel has every switch to register every position making it much more malleable when it comes to setting it up for non-DCS-F18 stuff.

To fully enjoy the panel remember to download the winwing app with the F18 profile.

Thank you very much for your kind offer @Troll !

The dimension there is 14cm and the tube extends quite a way into the black tube above it. The width of the silver square tube is 3cm.

Some more photos…

SimFab make an attachment that could possibly do what you are suggesting but it would place the platform a little lower than I have it now, and the hinge would be awkward to get to…

Another option would be to change the orientation of the throttle mount by rotating it 180 degrees and then reattach the throttle, which would bring it aft by several inches. That wouldn’t bring it inboard, but it would shorten the reach a little.

Looking at the photos…I really need to work on cable management under the desk! :astonished:
