Show us your sim pit!

Great info and I’m glad you like it! I’m very tempted.

Where would you like the throttle to sit?

Flipping the mounting bracket 180 degrees made quite a difference and I think I will be ok with this arrangement. Due to the Collective grip now being forward of the throttle base, I have been able to move the throttle inboard a little. I now have just enough clearance to use the collective without grazing my hand against the throttle unit, the only exception being with the flaps axis lever but I can move that aft and leave it there when flying helicopters, so no big deal.

@Troll, thanks again for your offer. I greatly appreciate it.

Btw, in case anyone noticed the rubber bands around the edges of the mouse mat, that was my solution to the mouse falling onto the floor due to all the vibrations coming through the frame from my HF8 haptic seat pad and the AB9 stick.

I did some upgrading on my sim pit.

It is a Playseat Air Force combined with a TM HOTAS and some wood and plastic pipe.
(sorry for the bad pics but my simroom is rather small)

Yay! Its the return of the ghetto pit, sewerpipe centermount for the greater glory of workers and peasants everywhere! :cccp:

That looks great! Big fan of the ghettopit myself, having run one for years :+1:

Still planning a right hand sewerpipe mount so I can change between center and right hand mounts.

Small teaser and a simlife pro tip:

If you want to modify a car seat into a fighter seat, use a bread knife, not cloth scissors.

As long as the foam does not turn red, you’re good.

The only live tissue damage that occurred was with the edges of the aluminium profiles. I should wear gloves next time

How are you going to repair the outer cloth skin of the seat? It’s a problem that’s kept me from modifying mine thus far…

I should start off by saying I don’t have high standards for the looks of this pit. It’s a VR simpit, and in VR you can’t see what it looks like. It just needs to feel right.

(I considered painting all the wood bits black but I’m really not looking forward to removing the seat and the stick-column-alu-monster to do it. I’ll do it in a year if I don’t want to do a v2 by then.)

I removed the seams using one of those sewing tools. The seams had a “T-shape” on the front.

It won’t look perfect, but it looks like I’ll be able to cover 95% of the foam by just folding over the cloth that’s there and sewing it together. If you want it to look good, you could get a separate piece of cloth and use that to cover the insides.

I’m getting instructions from my girlfriend, who designed and made a ton of Pokémon, pet and figurine plushies.

I just completed my sim-pit peripheral upgrade by pulling the trigger on a set of TPR pedals and a damper kit. It has been an expensive 12 months, but hopefully I won’t need to buy any more sim equipment for some time to come.

Works OK for now.

For now. I would rather have the joystick/cyclic sit a bit high with the extension than without it but I have to do a bit of fabricating to get it about 2 inches/5cm lower. I also want to move the collective a couple of inches closer to the chair, about the same rearwards and a bit over an inch lower. I have the plans for a bracket but will have to get that made for me.

The throttle quadrant (warthog) is spot on when it is mounted.

A bit of fiddling about swapping between rotary wing, fixed and cars/trucks. But only a few bolts and about 10-15 minutes.

Hi All

Here is my simpit. Still a lot to do, but then again I think there will always be something.

Reminds me of the IK (Inverse Kinematic) seat and G-cueing system I worked on in a Real Life Miltary Flight sim.

I’m sure I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about…

Your pit looks awesome! A variant of the Bergison seat?
And I approve of your choice of virtual ride!
