I got this latest patch yesterday, need to fire it up tonight and let UPlay and stuff get settled.
Wow… So the latest R6 patch varies in size from 60GB to 100+GB. Mine is about 80GB.
Given that this download will take me maybe 3 weeks of overnight sessions (not to mention clash with my other game updates and activities), I’m not sure I’ll continue with R6.
Can’t complain, I logged about 500 hours over 2+ years of play. Lots of challenging play. Lately, things have been a bit more flaky, but still OK.
It sounds like you had a nice run on it and for sure got your moneys worth.
The size of some games these days has really made a huge jump in size, it’s crazy.
I had to start sending a friend a drive with the installs as he just can’t download that much on his ISP.
It’s crazy. I’m getting a 105GB download right now. FFS 105GB? da heck.
A few months ago we had an excessive download, but they said they were future proofing it, so future downloads would be smaller. ughhh. I hate to think what a larger size is.
Edit: 500 hours?? How can you possibly play this, Rocket League, Farm Sim for so many hours? I only have 142 hrs into R6. Granted, you’ve been playing it more lately. But 250 hrs more???
Yes, this is crazy. I have 21 Gb. left on my SSD which I figured is fine for another year or two with R6. Now one update is 105 GB. ?
If I’m reading correctly, after the update, the game install footprint should actually be smaller than it is now. (!)
Thanks Ads, I thought that was the end of R6 for me. Right now it’s trying to download 65.9 Gb. and has been “PreAllocating” for about 5min. I wonder if it will even download it if it can’t find enough space…
The more I think about this, I bet a lot of users won’t have enough space to download the update …
Well, the Steam Updater really worked. It found enough space on my three hard drives and two SSD’s to download the 65.9 Gb. update and updated R6 and I still have 18.6 GB on the SSD for R6 after the update. It took three and a half hours to do it all, but it did work.

It’s probably all packed in together with my current download, which is going well BTW. I should easily be set for the first Friday of May.

Unfortunately, looks like my download has been wasted. As of Wednesday night, I had 50GB down, and about 30GB to go. When I fired up Steam to let it continue the update, there was a small R6 patch (something about shaders or graphics?) and then my download started over at 0…
Ouch.
