Guys, this is what I have found so far on the does and don’ts of Rainbow Six PvP. We should try these things out at tomorrow nights game.

Attack Phase

OPERATORS -

  1. THERMITE as he is the only operator that can breach reinforced walls.
  2. IQ - can detect defenders behind walls at target site.
  3. FINKA - Use to get someone up, who is a distance away. Also Finka’s Adrenal Surge greatly reduces the time it takes for a flash grenades effects to wear off and it nearly eliminates the kickback you get when firing for the 10 seconds it is activated. So it should be used during an assault with flash grenades.

SHOOT all Camera’s, On the way to the Objective.

  • Be careful with your drone during prep phase. If you don’t lose it during the prep phase, you have two drones to use during the critical phase, when trying to breach the objective
  • don’t forget to shoot through “soft” walls !
  • If your quite sure the enemy is in a room, don’t look first. Throw a grenade and then look and shoot. If you don’t have a grenade, use a drone to see where they are hiding.

Defend Phase
OPERATORS -

  1. MUTE Disables Drones and other electronics. Immediately on spawning, place Mutes Signal Disruptors (up to 4) at each of the entrances to the objective and put it behind a wall so they can’t be shot out from outside the room. Then help all the defenders erect reinforced walls at one end of the room to build a safe area for defenders. Bandit then electrifies the walls.
  2. BANDIT - Counters THERMITE, electrifies Reinforced walls, if THERMITE tries to put breaching charge on the wall, the charge evaporates and THERMITE receives an electric jolt, that reduces his health and will kill him if he doesn’t let go.
  3. MAESTRO (Optional) Has two evil eye bullet proof camera’s with laser pulses. You can guard two entrances into the objective with the camera’s being “hidden” on a wall.
  4. MAVERICK Can burn holes through reinforced walls but not breach them. So watch out for holes appearing in the defenders “safe area”.

Two or three Operators can be sent out to roam and intercept attackers. Two remain in the room with the objective as Anchors.

After some research on the latest operators, I chose Gridlock. Her weapon set and gadget look to be quite useful. I’m looking forward to testing them tonight.

Heads up, I got an update today for 764.5 mb. for Rainbow six. It might be a steam glitch as I got an update 13 days ago of the same size, don’t know …

Heads up, Rainbow 6 has a new 6.2 GB. update that we will all have to download.

FYI, Hackers have been targeting Rainbow 6 servers, apparently they have paid hackers to conduct denial of service attacks to give them an advantage in Pro matches. UBI has been pressured for a while to react to this and they have (See below).

Tonight (Thurs 19-9-2019) It took 10 minutes to finally log into steam. I spent 40 minutes trying to get into a casual match, the servers went down over and over as I tried. No luck getting in. I assume the servers are under attack because of the measures UBI soft is taking.

From Ubisoft

Ubisoft has announced that it will actively combat Rainbow Six Siege cheaters, banning those behind the recent wave of DDoS attacks while looking to fortify its servers against potential threats in future.

This follows reports from the Siege community who have noted a DDoS pandemic on consoles, effectively ruining the tactical shooter’s competitive scene for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players.

After monitoring the situation, Ubisoft Montreal has outlined a comprehensive plan in how it will deal with cheaters and the recent spate of DDoS attacks.

In short, Ubisoft will brandish its ban hammer with more efficiency while also following up bans with potential legal action.

The publisher will also improve the way it monitors network traffic, helping them to detect DDoS attackers more accurately. Instead of having 3 matches running on one server, this number has been reduced to one.

BAN WAVES

We have identified the worst offenders perpetuating these DDoS/DoS attacks, and will be initiating a ban wave. This will apply to both PC and Console players.

Impact : Players that have been found to be initiating DDoS/DoS attacks will be banned.

Target : Next Week, will continue as needed

REDUCING MATCHES PER SERVER

We currently host 3 matches per server. When a server crashes, or when a DDoS/DoS attack occurs, this results in 3 matches being impacted and taken offline. We are splitting this to have each server host a single match to reduce the impact

Impact : 66% reduction in the impact of DDoS/DoS attacks.

Target : End of this week

REMOVE ESCALATING ABANDON SANCTION

We have noted the unintended consequences of the escalating abandon sanction on players impacted by DDoS/DoS attacks. We are disabling this feature to reduce the longer term impact that is felt by legitimate players.

Impact: Reduce impact felt by legitimate players after a match has been ended via DDoS/DoS/Soft Booting.

Target : End of this week

NETWORK TRAFFIC MONITORING/MANAGEMENT

We are making adjustments to how we manage and monitor network data, and how we accept packets sent to our servers. We cannot provide details on this topic, as it will expose information that can be used to circumvent the work we are doing. This will have a substantial impact on DDoS, DoS, Soft Booting, and server stressing.

Impact: This will have a substantial impact on DDoS, DoS, Soft Booting, and server stressing.

Target : Early October

LEGAL OPTIONS

We have discussed the current situation with our legal team, and assessed our options. We will be issuing cease and desists to websites and people hosting these services.

Legal action against prominent DDoS/DoS attackers is in progress.

Impact : Reduce the availability of DDoS/DoS service providers

Target : Ongoing

WORKING WITH MICROSOFT PARTNERS

Development is ongoing with our partners on the Microsoft Azure team, and we are working closely with them to develop both short and long term solutions.

Impact: This will have a substantial impact on DDoS, DoS, Soft Booting, and server stressing.

Target : Ongoing

Rainbow Six Siege has just kicked off its latest season dubbed “Operation Ember Rise”. This is the game’s third content drop of its fourth year (Y4S3), adding two new playable operators and a reworked version of the Kanal map.

Thanks for the update, Prof.

Well as for tonight, I’ve got a download that needs to be completed, and it’s like 7+ hours for me. No way I’ll get done for R6 tonight. If the game servers are still slow, I’d be good with a few rounds of CoH2, if anybody else is.

Hopefully this is issue will be out of the way soon, though.

Another heads up, a 850 Mb. update for Rainbow 6.

I’ll grab that tonight, thanks.

I’ve just been told I’m going for dinner in Orlando tonight. Should be back by 9:00 pm., I’m just a bit concerned about traffic slowing us down. If I’m a bit late I will be there as soon as I can.

Hi Rhino, I looked at division 2 and at first I found another game, (Not Tom Clancy) then I found the right one a day or two later, it wasn’t on sale that I could tell. I think it was $ 37.00. That’s too much for something I don’t know if we would still be playing a month or so from now.

For what it’s worth, the sale is at the ubisoft store. Still $12US. Using the 20% off code you can get at the uplay launcher, it would be $9.60US.

But at this point, we’d be far ahead in the story, so I guess the time to strike was 2 weeks ago.

Don’t listen to him! You can catch up. And Im happy to replay missions with you.

@Prof I got an email for Division 2, it’s 95% off ($3 USD).

I don’t have the game, but I think @Rhinosaurus and @saghen are enjoying it (and could tell you more).

Just posting this as an FYI, not sure if you were considering this game or not.
