Yes. Or, I should say it’s in my room now
I also have my workshop there, so it’s not a dedicated sim room…yet.

confirmed… SimBoxNG for sale everyone (not needed anymore) !

Not so fast…
It’s not a big room and sharing space with the workbench means that it still is a good idea to pack it up, every now and then.
When I get to expand into the storage room, behind that door, though…

My new seat arrived today!
It’s a Monstertech MPS-1 but covered in Cordura Ranger Green instead of syntethic leather.
The existing SimBox seat makes it easy to stow away, but it isn’t very comfortable…
I’ll try to accomodate the MPS-1 in the SimBox, but I may have to redesign the frame. Maybe I should do a total makeover…?

Make it look good, ill probably want it when its finished with :rofl:

I love my current chair far too much though.

I was thinking about that earlier funnily enough. That chair has had 4 seperate mudspikers sit on it. My throttle has had 3 mudspikers use it (not sit on it)

Thats actually pretty cool

I was looking at this seat just the other day. I am considering getting one to build around and would love to hear a review of it’s comfort whenever you get a chance.

As a slight aside … how do you find the SimBox for VR gaming. With HOTAS, the layout seems quite good - same for what I am using though I could use with a better ‘panel attachment’ or layout mechanism. Whenever I reach for the VR hand controllers, however, everything is in the way of my wild and blind swinging

Wait. That thing (seat) is on sliding rails? That’s quite nice!

Wilco!

Well, the real, physical, world gets in the way for the virtual world, when using VR hand controllers. For pure VR titles like VTOL VR, sitting in the middle of the room, is the best position.
But I like physical controllers… So, the SimBox is just like any sim rig. The frame isn’t a big problem, but the position of all the controllers can be a problem.

Yeah. Looks like a regular car seat rail.

I don’t have anything of the magnificence of the SimBoxNG, but I have strapped my HOTAS, pedals and a button box (I’ve since swapped that for an old Saitek throttle) and a velcro mount for the keyboard to a NextLevel F1-GT Lite racing cockpit.

I found that if there’s a place to grab and press the buttons with your thumb, button boxes are fine in VR. I used to grab the top of the button box. But I’ve since added a left handed mouse to the cockpit and prefer that (I really only fly clickable cockpit planes these days).

I didn’t find any issue at all with the layout of the button box not matching the virtual cockpit.

Me neither. But the issue is when you’re not using physical controllers, and just VR hand controllers. The physical throttle and stick is in the same place as your virtual throttle and stick, and thus gets in the way. I move my hand to grab the throttle, in VTOL VR, for instance, and the VR handcontroller hits the physical throttle. For these, VR only type of games, it’s better to have a clear space around you.

I think that is best. I’ll drive on up to Tromsø this weekend to pick up the old model and give it a good home. :sunglasses:
