So, Who's Got COVID?

When I have asthma attacks that’s my go to drug… but have never come across those side effects, the worst I seem to get is hand tremor from the sabutamol inhalers. Take care Beach …if those O2 readings go lower, get them checked out.

Hell…if this CT scan comes back in the wrong direction I might be making a career change…

A colleague of mine had blood clots in both lungs… He came back after a year on meds. Could’ve made it back sooner, but evidently prolonging the medication period had shown a decrease in reccuring clots and since his was a genetic condition, they went with that.

The good news is I have a great AME who is superb at usually finding the paths that lead to good health and retaining or reclaiming your medical. I can tell something is happening with this double-drug cocktail I’m on - even though I’m a bit breathless I’m not getting the stabbing pain in the bottom of my lung and the night raspiness has gone away…to the point that I can actually sleep on my right side. I feel this is getting better!

Beach, I’m crossing my fingers for a full and quick recovery!

We can’t have you stay at home writing reviews all day long, that would be way too much to read!

So how can you determine if you’ve got it again? That was actually what I was thinking - that I might have picked it up again, but this time it made it to my chest instead of the more mild head stuff I had on the first go-around with it. I was thinking of getting tested again, but read that you can test positive for up to 3 months after the first infection…so I don’t know that my result would be conclusive.

How was it the second time around? Better, worse, or the same?

For what it is worth, here is an article that actually came out today.

I’m under 50, and not frontline, so I still can’t get it in Florida.
Maybe sometime next month the age limit will be dropped again and I’ll qualify.

The Germans literally created German bureaucracy- that’s one of the first things I learned when I started my MPA- and some of the philosophical debates between efficiency and bureacracy, going back to the early 19th century, are…enlightening.

Ooof, I hope you’re able to make a full recovery from it.

A nurse friend of mine caught it twice, and she said the second time around was much worse, with similar symptoms to what you’re experiencing now. She also said the recovery was much longer the second time around, so please, go easy on yourself regardless of what your end diagnosis is.

Take it easy @BeachAV8R, no need to be superman. Work will keep turning, planes keep on flying but your wife and kids won’t if you do yourself a bad one.
We already think you’re superman so have a rest mate

Good grief @BeachAV8R this reads like a horror story, where you’re revealing one horrible and vital detail at a time. So yeah, +1 from the other comments - rest and don’t do anything, and get better!

Lord, I hate prednisone. It really does make you want to crawl out of your own skin. I have the exact same reaction, sweats and tachycardia.

And yes, retests are pointless. Once you get COVID, you can continue to test positive for up to 90 days.

Yeah…I am not digging it at all. Just at random my heart will start thumping in my chest. Cannot wait to get off the steroid stuff. Makes me want to go see how I’d do on my big bicycle climb hill though…the 49 year old me could dust those 12 year olds in the neighborhood now…

Not if you get a heart attack…
Hang in there!

You might also just get some R&R. I don’t think that you will be signing that big Continental cycling team contract this year  , so no need to rush your recovery. Your fitness will come back in time. You”re still young laddy.

I need to hang around Greenville more and become friends with Big George…haha… I do sort of have a self-inflicted fitness pressure - signing up for that Ironman on my 50th birthday in September. This illness has put a huge dent in that training. Once I get to feeling better I’ll slowly ramp it up and see what we can do though. I’m not ready to give up on that dream yet.

How were you doing on the running part? Had any joint issues or smooth sailing?
