SPOILER ALERT - Game of Thrones final season

The Lego set got me. I have to admit it. And the “I don’t want it” was good too

Here we go!

Alright. That was better then I expected given the last few episodes.

omg boring.

I mean, it was ok. But it was not very game of thrones-y. This whole season just a huge disappointment sadly.

But it was definitely better than the previous few eps.

How do make a mediocre ending better?

Ruin the ones before it.

I liked it.
A lot.

A lot made sense in the end…

I have to admit that once Aegon Targaryen eliminated his aunt, I was a bit disappointed that he didn’t jump on that dragon’s back and go roast the Dothraki and Unsullied into submission. Really teach them who their true born master is. No, he probably just sulked over to Grey Worm and apologize for murdering his queen. What a pansy! I really wanted him to finally grow a pair, but no. Back to the Knight’s Watch, what’s left of it. And what good will that do now that Winter has come and gotten it’s ass kicked

With that said, a pretty good ending, if not very satisfying.

It was ok, I enjoyed it enough. More of a hamburger rather than a steak.

I’m not sure how they could have finished it, but it does seem like this season did miss out on that GRRM ability to surprise and turn things on a dime. I would have been ok if the last scene was Jon venturing up North and then coming across a blue eyed baby, either than or perhaps Bran having an evil laugh in a room by himself as it faded to black.

‘Bran the Broken’, I bet he wants a do-over on that nickname, not that the 3ER would care. It looks set up for Arya to discover Spin-off Island, so they left the door open for that.

The real issue is that they didn’t leave enough episodes to work it all out. Leading up to the fight with the Night King things were pretty much still standard, but instead of just under 3 hours to resolve the conflict with Cersei and what Dany and Jon were going to do afterwards they really needed an entire other season.

Last season was only 7 episodes. They could’ve made it 10 and ended with the fight at Winterfell.
Then this season should’ve been another 10 leading up to the fight at King’s Landing in say episode 8 and then 2 more to handle everything after.

But, you know, they had no books to go off of and they were chomping at the bit to get working on the next Star Wars film. So they compressed ten hours into 2 just so they could finish it.

What’s funny is the parallels you can draw between them and Dany. Just like her, they started to believe their own superiority and that they could pull off the impossible. The series needed a minimum of 80 if not 90 to get the story told without rushing.

This. We would have a whole season to wage war with Cersei, see Dany’s meltdown, the conspiracy on Jon’s birthright, Tyrion coming up with his new no succession idea, Bran leading the aftermath of the white walkers and all they learned from all those tales of the first men. the killing of a dragon, Brienne and Jamie’s story, etc etc etc. Just too much for a 3 episode arc. The siege would carry the main storyline and leave some space for some big losses for the good guys to add a desperation that at least partially justified the destruction of kings landing on the climax battle.

They want to do the star wars thing so badly… But I feel less confident they will be able to pull it off…
