Yep, despite its many shortcomings, I loved SWS. I played it both on PC and PS4.
I don’t play it so much anymore as finding a game became more difficult.
I even enjoyed the campaign. But the stars of the show were the ships. I’ve spent the better part of an afternoon just marveling at the cockpit or zipping around the Star Destroyer.
Flying the X-wing does give me phantom shoulder pains though!
I have only played single player. Considering the target demographic, the ‘storyline’ campaign can be a bit cheesy with the dialogue, but I thought the missions were well done. And I didn’t have any probs binding controls to my Warthog.
Since I finished that, I have had hours of fun just firing up a SP quick mission or ‘multiplayer as single player’ (basically the same as MP but with AI/bots instead of whiney 13yo’s)… because Star Wars and I get to fly an X-Wing.
As @schurem says, at $20, you would be mad not to give it a go.
I was amazed how little SWS grabbed me. I’ve still not finished it, despite getting it on release. The MP was barely different from what XWA had over 20 years ago, and the SP required doing some “gamey” thing (looking at the slide-whatever-that-is mechanic) that turned me off.
Given how much I played the original LF X Wing/TIE games back in the 90s, I was more than a little surprised it didn’t appeal to me more. Not sure if it was the game or me as I’m 20 years older too!
For me, I loved every second of Star Wars Squadrons. For a “budget” game, the story was decent and the visuals were great. I think that with the resources they had, Motive did a spectacular job. The gameplay was solid as well. IMHO, the game has so much potential! I didn’t play the original LF X-Wing/TIE games, but I played Star Wars Rogue Squadron on the Nintendo 64 an awful lot.
Although I miss seeing that laid off imperial guy and his mom. Looking forward to the spin off with those two in that little apartment, just viciously sniping at each other all day long.
I did too! The original games were around when I was a kid, but I never played them. Rogue Squadron on N64 though, that was a treat! I remember getting the Expansion Pack just for that game, LOL!
Not just great star wars. Not just great sci fi. Not just great writing. That, was up there with the best of them. Absolutely fantastic.
Stellan skarsgard is one of my favourite actors anyway, but he is just brilliant in this. The imperial supervisor as well. She is total perfection as a nuanced, evil yet flawed villain.
I could go either way with Boba Fett. Obi Wan Kenobi was good. Andor was excellent.
Obviously, this was Andor’s origin story for Rogue One, but…it was a good series to see the origin of the Rebellion. I have always wondered about the rest of the galaxy at large and how the people lived. In the main Star Wars movies, the story has always centered around the main protagonists, but it was nice to see the everyday people. (without everybody having the Force)
Nice to see Katee Sackhoff back in the spotlight. Has it really been almost 20 years since her portrayal as Starbuck in BSG? (Forgot to post the video link!)
Gonna be sweet to see some dual wielding lightsaber action (not to be confused with double bladed lightsabers i.e. Darth Maul) Although we did get a teaser in Episode 2 Attack of the Clones when Anakin briefly wielded 2 lightsabers against Count Dooku but was quickly disarmed (no pun intended… )
Her debut as SB was almost 20 years ago, but the finale aired in 2009.
She’s been playing Bo Katan since 2012 in 8 eps of Clone Wars and Rebels and now 10 of Mando’s show.
Ahsoka has been using dual blades since almost the beginning of Clone Wars, although she went to the white blades only at the very end.
I re-watched Razor not that long ago (when you’re my age a year or so isn’t that long ago)… I’m thinking I might have to re-watch it all from the beginning again.
Edit: I know I had Seasons 1-3 on DVD but do you think I can find them? Probably ended up at a charity store post spring clean one year? Not to worry, complete box set including the mini-series, The Plan and Razor is now inbound,
