I agree with everything you’ve said. Dialogue was awful, I ended up skipping as much of it as I could. The plot bad and had huge holes. Then lots of pointless things in the game. Base building on planets…. I can see the point for farming resources, but why all the other stuff? In fallout 4 it makes sense, but the majority of it in Starfield is not needed. Almost like they ported over a base building module direct from a previous title.
I’ve said this before, maps… it’s a sci-fi game. Why no local map?
I did complete it and without giving anything away, you can then do it all again.
The dialogue for the entire romance aspect of the game seems like it was written by a high school student. It’s especially hokey if you choose to romance Sara. My first reaction was “people in real life simply don’t talk like this”.
I only picked sarah for my first playthrough because she was blond and posh and it annoyed my wife immediately.
Hindsight, i should of chosen andreja and actually enjoyed myself.
But the longer I played it the more I was reminded that it was ‘Fallout’ with spaceships. I kept running into the same issues with their engine that I experienced for years in Fallout and in Elder Scrolls, and it kept reminding me how much that they didn’t bother to fix.
Story was good, ships were cool, but I ended up spending most of my missions trying to collect all the loot for money to do things. And that wasn’t fun. And it remind me of the hoarding I would do in Elder Scrolls and Fallout to generate money. And it wasn’t a good reminder.
The last few months have seen a lot of changes in the updates that should have been there from day one.
Local maps for both cities and the random areas and yesterday came a ground vehicle. Steering is a bit wonky but you can get around the wilderness fast now.
I booted it up, genuinely quite excited to try it and start to explore. Bought it from the ship services guy at akila city. Jumped in, blasted over the fence and out into the wilderness, killed a few local Ashta climbed a big hill, remembered that driving around on an empty world is the same as walking, used my starborn guardian as a massive ramp and then quit.
Less than 5 minutes total. Yea. Shite to be honest. No mods, no upgrades, 1 car, whats the point
I watched the video and I failed to see where he’s implying that Bethesda ruined Starfield especially since he said he was going to stream the new DLC on his channel.
Besides, how can they be blamed for ruining a thing they created themselves? Saying “Disney ruined Star Wars” or “JJ Abrams ruined Star Trek”, is one thing. Saying “George Lucas ruined Star Wars” or “Gene Roddenberry ruined Star Trek” is completely different.
Strange… My take was that he was making fun of how game NPC’s and organizations trusted you unrealistically quickly and immediately handed you world altering responsibilities…
One sees how Millenials or Zoomers (or whichever group of people younger than me this applies to) get upset when they’re not making management decisions two weeks into their first internship
Yes I noticed that odd AI behavior as well when I first started playing the game last year. All I could think of was how I wish I had that kind of power of persuasion when I was in high school and dealing with girls!
By the way, I started playing the new DLC last night and I’m really enjoying it so far. The main story is pretty creepy and the Vaa’run homeworld immediately reminded me of Vulcan.
