Strike Fighters 2 Complete Edition for 50% Off

I did manage to get the fall rate of the flares slowed by adjusting drag values…now I have to figure out burn time. Going to ask at CA… :+1:t2:

I also managed to slow the fall rate of bombs by using BoosterDuration / BoosterAccel, but I’ll be darned if I can figure out how to get anything to burn more than 60 seconds. I tried BoosterDuration changes and SustainerDuration.

No dice.

So I found I am eligible to get the 50% discount, but not free. I added up what I never bought and what it would cost and it came out to well over $50, so the discounted version is definitely a better deal for me.

It’s no SF2 Vietnam, but taking on the Soviets in GIUK Gap in SF2:North Atlantic is fun as well.

FFS that looks AMAZING!!

Note that I used 2 mods - single clouds texture from WideSky V1.0 by cellinsky and SFG Speech by Renegade and Retrograde. The rest is vanilla SF2.

Also, we need to wait and see what MAC will bring to the table.
Hope that new SF2 edition will come with some upgrades along the Win10 update.
…my money are safe till then

I spent a good chunk of my down time modding games in my youth, mostly GUI’s for various simulators, but SF2 was by far my most comprehensive attempt. I still have the latest EU WIP backed up on an external HD. I don’t have SF2 on any HD at the moment, so I can’t fire it up and troubleshoot, but feel free…

#4 hardly ever engages in air-to-air combat. It’s a known AI bug.

What I hope is that rather than get new planes, ThirdWire works on the quality of the existing features.

There isn’t a better one to use of me NOT holding my breath about improvements to base gameplay like that. Lots of breathing is implied with a yawn.

So many of us felt that way about the game for years, and I know you plugged away at it for a very long time. Were the new games and airplanes fun? Sure. Would it have been even more fun if some of the base features worked?

Abso-stinkin’-lutely.

I really hope that in this new iteration of the PC lineup that he spends time working on the game’s infrastructure. The AI needs some work, some updating. Some of the mechanics of the game need some attention, like active radar-homing missiles not showing up on the RWR. The base model Soviet battle groups still launch their aircraft into the sea. AI can’t seem to figure out how to use external countermeasure pods. If you’re in campaign mode, flying at night is not allowed since combat operations are mostly a daytime kind of thing.

There’s a lot of tinkering that I hope happens that will improve the gameplay greatly and it’ll be a real disappointment if all of those older bugs rear their ugly head again. He’s got a real chance at dethroning DCS for the casual combat flight sim market (yes, it’s a small market), so I hope he takes this opportunity to release something that keeps the fun factor of the old games, but makes it more functional going forward.

I just noticed that there are now six flyables in the new title.

The USAF F-4 Phantom II has now been added as a flyable. Very glad to see that.

I remember having well over a hundred flyables. Hunters, lightnings, tornadoes, the whole shebang!

The modding community will not react well if they can’t put a couple hundred aircraft into one install.

I believe it said that was the list for the first SF2. It says something about more titles and DLCs coming soon, which to me says he’s going to update the other previous titles and we’ll get Europe, Israel, NA, etc over the summer.
It’s just my feeling that while he may be returning to the well, TK is still TK. I don’t think he’s had any change of heart about how he makes his titles. So I’m not expecting much beyond perhaps fixing some lingering bugs as far as anything beyond “works fine with Windows 10”.

The sales of NA and the DLC were not what he was hoping for (regardless of whether those were realistic or optimistic or even low, he didn’t make enough) so he went the mobile route. I have no information about how he’s doing with that.
Over the years, he’s likely heard from multiple customers about how they wanted an updated SF2 that would work better with Windows 10. Enough that now he’s decided to go through the effort and do so, and is charging a respectable if not exactly exciting price.

When he’s finished porting all this stuff over, and “SF2 complete Win10 edition” is done, he will evaluate how much he made and how much work it was. I feel like it will be much less work than to have made another SF2: Korea or whatever, so his profit margin should be high, but I think sales will be moderate because it’s not new, it’s just “remastered.”

However, that result is going to directly influence whether he will make an SF3 or not. I really hope he does, because I believe there is a place for the casual market. I also think he should try and get on the Epic Store. It takes a smaller chunk compared to Steam but has almost equal visibility at this point. I might be mistaken, but are there any flight sims on Epic? I don’t think DCS, Il-2, or any of the others are yet. It might be a good idea to get his Windows 10 version on there and drum up more sales. His site has the visibility of an insurance office leasing space in a warehouse in the wharf district. It would cost him 12% but he’s not recouping any costs anymore.
