Switching DLSS Versions: Simplicity for Enhanced Graphics and Performance!

Sorry, I could have sworn I had posted about this here before. Apparently not!

Anyway DSS 3.5 is now available for download.

Do remember DLSS 3+ is only for users of RTX40x0 cards, of course. Those of us with previous gens can only use DLSS2.

  • RTX 20 Series

DLSS 3.5 compatibility is expansive, making it accessible to more developers and players. DLSS 3.5 is available on all RTX 20 series and RTX 30 series GPUs. Notably, the latest RTX 40 series GPUs have been included in this roster, guaranteeing an unrivalled gaming experience for fans of all stripes.

Just bumped into this, and decided to drop it in here for future reference.

Last night I was tinkering with swapping DLSS versions in DCS mostly using this video as a guide. it’s fairly easy to follow and generally on point, except for one step. Editing the Registry is not needed to enable the info display (see image below). It’s available as an option in the DLSS switcher app. I found it helpful when testing different DLSS presets. After trying them, I ended up using the video’s recommended one, J, which seemed to give the best image without impacting performance.

Updates: If you are having issues with the NvidiaProfileInspector, there is a new version. It may prompt you for a small update for .Net framework.

Revamped NvidiaProfileInspector

This CustomSettingNames.xml file is newer than the one linked in the video above.

I’m using the same process for FS2024 with the K preset and it’s working brilliantly. The JF Hawk V2 rocks.

I hope 4 comes to DCS soon.

I was so reluctant and ready to give up when he was like “One more file!”. But OMG! I cant really say I gained any fps. Dont really see I lost any fps. But what I gained in clarity and smooothenesss… Its amazing.
GOOD FIX!

I got to try this when I get home. Most of the ghosting is gone from DCS. I wonder how much better MSFS24 will look. (It looks good already).

When using nvidiaProfileInspector, if you use this CustomSettingNames.xml file (drop in in the folder), you will get option K, which is the latest and supposedly better than option J linked in the video I posted above.

I did that a while ago and forgot about it. I was wondering why everyone was talking about option J when I’m on option K.

Someone over on the Ed forum mentioned that changing dlss messes up the mfd displays on the Kiowa… because of the added moire effect on the screens

Unedited screenshots using the latest DLSS build with preset K as displayed in the lower left of each image. They would look even better in 2D.

is that in VR ?

I get these wavey lines across the display at the moment

Yes, that’s in VR, but come top think of it, Print Screen probably grabs the DCS mirror, which is in 2D. Let me try in flat screen mode to see if I get those.

It still looks good in 2D 3440x1440.

Update: OK, if I use MMS in MAN mode and start moving, I think that I can see what you mean, some wavey lines.

Two days ago DLSS4 seemed to stop working. I was surfing and ran across this video by Devil505:

Its kinda long but very informative. He first talks about VR Performance and then goes on about Mods. So you can skip the second half of the video. I went in with a bit of doubt. He kept saying, the results will be so good. Afterwards, I fired up my PC and OH BOY! AMAZING just does not do it justice.
Here is the Readers Digest (Short Story) version of it.
Open Nvidia App/ Updated Nvidia Drivers/ Go to Graphics Tab/ Global Tab(top)/ Disable Shader Cache/ Restart PC.
In C/Users/Your name/App Data/Local/Nvidia/ Make sure you have or Create a folder named GL Cache. (Had the folder. Deleted all files inside. They are shader cache files)
In C/Users/Your name/App Data/Local Low /Nvidia/ Per DriverVersion/DxCache/ Delete the files inside (I had two folders and I deleted them)
In DCS Saved Games folder delete the FXO and Metashaders folders like you do every update.
For Me, I had to reenable DLSS.
Fire up DLSS Swapper and I switched to 3.10.2(Latest Version).
In Nvidia Profile Inspector Pick the DCS.exe, move down to Paragraph 5(Common) and Ensure CUDA Force P2 is on and in DLSS Preset pick preset K.
I could not get the indicator to come on. Maybe it does not come in in VR?
I then fired up DCS. My baseline has always been the (Now dated) Nevada F-5E Free Flight mission. There is a lot of lighting and a huge city so it can stress your system a litte. The Visual Quality was just stunning.

Thanks Maico. The info display doesn’t work in VR. One thing that I’ve learned is to use Profile Inspector to check your settings each time that Nvidia updates drivers. Mine were using preset K, but after this last update, the info display is showing preset C.
