So, either DCS has seen some nice performance enhancements in the latest months, or that SSD bogged down the rest of the PC, quite a bit…

Yes, it seems like the M.2 SSD was the cause of the issues I had, as replacing it fixed the problems with the PC.
Now, why the SSD caused these issues, is not known, but I have theories.
I may have damaged it when I tried to remove the decal, which I didn’t know shouldn’t be removed. I thought having a decal as heat isolator was a bad idea, but it is evidently helping distributing the heat to the cooler. Doh!
Or maybe the MOBO SSD heat sink isn’t doing its job.

That explains everything I have experienced, described in this thread.
I thought it wasn’t related to the Windows security update, since the crashes occurred even after uninstalling it. But evidently the SSD controller remains affected, even after uninstalling the update.
