TM, Virpil, WW & MOZA Mounts in 2024/25

Hi all,
Happy Friday!!! But Its a sad day. Virpil does not have a Virpil VPC DESK MOUNT VX to Thrustmaster Joystick adapter anymore. You can get an adapter for the throttle… but not the stick.
I have the Virpil Mongoose M2 base. I can use it.
I have a WinWing F-16 but no way to use it.
I also have a MOZA AB9… Same goes for that… no way to use it…
Im not wanting to spend another 200 bucks. But it looks inevitable. What are my options in 2024?

Says the man who owns every tool under the Sun. LOL
Monster Tech is an Expensive option. I dont want something too cheap. Been there , dropped that…

Take a look at Foxx Mounts. They have similar build quality to Monstertech but for less $$$. I don’t know what prices are today, but that’s the route I went a few years back, and I’ve been a happy camper ever since.

I know you don’t want to spend more… but this is one of the best hardware investments I have made to date…

I am sorry i waited so long to start using a collective. What a difference it has made for me! My weapon of choice has been WinWing’s excellent Ka-50 collective. With its rotary grip that includes idle/cutoff. I think its good for most helicopters. Huey, Cayuse, Kiowa and of course the Shark. It feels so natural to fly NAP avoiding trees and dipping into low areas. Im trying my hand at the Apache. Im still in the flying and nav stage. I think when it gets more complex i will use the Virpil AH-64 collective. Speaking of Virpil, they also have a Ka-50 collective. I would love to try it… For now, happy as a clam.
Disclaimer: Only practice will make u better with whirly birds. Im only saying, a collective does make it feel more natural.

I have good news. Moza has a points system. The Moza mount is 50 usd. Since i bought the AB9 from Moza directly, i was able to use points and get the mount for 34usd w shipping!

I’m thinking a collective might have to be in my future.

How do You not have one?

I have been hitting my wallet for hobby stuff quite hard just recently. New sim-pit, Moza AB9, MSFS2024 Premium Deluxe, Condor 3, Sea Power, not to mention astronomy stuff…. It all mounts up very quickly.

Same here. Especially if the Little Bird mod is as good as everyone says it is. I have the Apache and Blackshark, but probably only have about 10 hours (combined) flight time in them.

I’m leaning towards the Virpil collective, simply because it looks easier to attach to my ‘simpit’. I would have to swap out my Warthog throttle and use that mount for the WnWing offering.

Does anyone have any hands-on with the Virpil?

So, I was just given the green light to get a collective for Christmas. I’m thinking VirPil would be a good bet, and they have a good sale going at the moment for Black Friday. My main dilemma now is choosing a grip.

The three they offer all have their strengths and weaknesses. The Apache Grip is the most expensive, but looks great for attack helicopter operations.

The Black Hawk grip looks to be great for general utility helicopters and is priced in between the other two.

The KA50 grip is a little cheaper than the others but looks to have a good selection of buttons and switches.

I’m leaning towards the Black Hawk grip because most of my sim helicopter flying is in MSFS (but I do have all the DCS helicopters).

Edit… just pulled the trigger. :sunglasses:

So, it seems I have started down a rabbit hole with this. I had to purchase the SimFab collective addon module ($80) so that I can mount the collective properly. My next problem is that my throttle will get in the way of the collective lever. I guess to start with I will have to swap them out as needed (less than a minute to do this but still a bit inconvenient).

Congrats on pulling the trigger. Witch base did you get? And you did get the Black Hawk grip?
I agree that Virpil is probably a better choice in quality. My Throttle was on a Virpil Mount hanging on the Desk. I had to take it off when I installed the Collective. Its on the floor for now. You have made a great decision. My whirly bird game is on the up and up. I love this darn collective.

I went with the TCS Plus base. I figured it was sale and I liked the idea of having the twist throttle. Oh, and yes, the Black Hawk grip. It seemed the best fit for the kind of helicopter ‘flying’ I generally do.

How cool are you? Yay!

I tried all weekend to mount the Winwing F-16EX to no avail. It was either buy a Drill Press or find a Machine Shop. Both expensive options and I dont think a Mini Drill Press will do the job.
So today I emailed Virpil at about 8 AM. Within Minutes I had a reply saying that they dont have the Virpil Mount to Wartog Stick adaptor. They said they had the Throttle adaptor and if I was interested, I can look on the website. I was impressed with the turnaround time on my request and an email from an actual breathing person. I wrote back and told them that the item in question was the industry standard for Joystick mounting and that it was my beleif that Virpil could sell a lot more mounts if they brought the adaptor back. ( They were still selling these last year). Well, again I got an email from the same gentleman at Virpil. He seemed to be surprised by the omission of the adapter and unaware of its importance. He told me he would confer with his team an get back to me. Sounds promising.
What I took away from this was what level of service they provided. Go Virpil!

So, the answer was NO. They dont have it, no plans to have it and cant get it. Sad day.

My AB9 is mounted to my pit with heavy duty 3M mounting tape because the holes didn’t match the plate. It works great, and fits in nicely with my Tape&WD40 tool box philosophy. The tape has worked great so far.
