Victork2 has passed away

I’m at a loss of words for this… completely devestated. I have my share of good memories with and about Ace that I had hoped I wouldn’t need to reminiscence for decades to come.. But much more than that I feel for his young family…

This is so awful. He was such a respected person here, much loved. My heart goes out his family. Rest in peace.

I can’t even process this right now. I just walked in the door. And I can’t even grasp it.

I am so so sorry for your loss. I know some of the grief and anguish and pain that you and your children are going through, and would not wish it on anyone. Keeping you and your family in our prayers, from NE TX.

Ace was a special guy, and I have enjoyed getting to know him and enjoy his adventures vicariously here. He was certainly the most enthusiastic person here, in the best sense of the word. I sincerely loved watching his antics, and seeing your family enjoy the fun projects and events together. I can’t tell you how much this breaks my heart. Know that it was absolutely clear through every post here how much he loved you, and your children every day.

Thank you for sharing him with us like you did, we’re grateful to have had the opportunity to know him.

Please take care of yourself, and give yourself and your children time and opportunity to grieve this immense loss. It’s okay not to know what to do next, and to feel completely overwhelmed. Know you’re surrounded by those that loved him, and love you, and take comfort in that. And know that when the time comes, you’ll be able to find the strength to put one step in front of the other.

I wish I’d gotten the opportunity to meet him in person. I hope that someday I will. For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

I’m also reminded of Ted Berrigan’s a Final Sonnet, which often comes to mind in times like these.

How strange to be gone in a minute! A man
Signs a shovel and so he digs Everything
Turns into writing a name for a day

Ace signed his shovel, and so he dug, and left a lasting impression on his friends in this corner of the internet, and the world. Hugs and prayers from Texas, and those that share some tiny piece of your immense loss.

I just woke up and I feel somehow surprised and completely broken that Ace is still gone: like this should have been a nightmare, not the real world.

And that’s mostly just the selfish grief over the loss of a close online friend. Cannot imagine what you are going through, Els.

Please be kind to yourself and allow yourself some space. Have the faith that Ace had in you, that you will get things sorted and rebuilt eventually.

I just saw this thread. My jaw dropped when I saw it. I am stunned.

I enjoyed our time playing DCS and ARMA together. He always seemed so friendly.

I enjoyed his concert reports and going into mosh pits at his age.

For the lack of words I could not reply to this thread.

But I feel I cannot stay silent.

Rest in peace, @Victork2, fly high and forever tailwinds!

How about an annual Flight Sim Fly-In to his local field? I would participate in that for sure.

We’d need to do that in either F-14s or VictorK2’s  I’m up for that.

Good idea. My suggestion would be either Enstone where he learnt to fly or Vale of the White Horse Gliding Club (Sandhill Farm near Swindon) where he did most of his ppl flying and air experience piloting after motorglide moved. I remember him eyeing the clubs dilapedated and written off Land Rover. It had not run for many years. It was totally trash and an absolute non runner. One day when the weather was bad he said “I might get that going again”. It was fixed asp despite the looks of disbelieve he got. A cloud of smoke and it was towing gliders about the field. Not asked, not paid, just volunteered. If however you want an F14 or Victor then it should be RAF Brize Norton or Fairford. He spent a lot of time looking down on them, or nose pressed to the wire fence.

I know that it wasn’t precisely his bag, but might I suggest that we rename all future Holiday Flights in memoriam to @Victork2.

It is, as far as I am aware, as close to a regular event as we have here at Mudspike.

That and perhaps Fight Club.

I am gutted to read this, I just don’t know what to say. His enthusiasm was infectious, his love for his family so apparent. I am so so sorry.
