Video Card Price Watch

That’s an insane price for the last generation of GPU’s.

I just picked up an RX580 8GB for $275 @ Amazon. It’s comparable in performance to a GTX 1060 6GB, which I also plan to pick up for my HTPC, but that would currently cost me $300.

Everything largely unchanged with the local NZ prices since late May - 1080 and 1070Ti unchanged, 1070 series down a bit.

EVGA GeForce GTX1080 SC 8GB - $999 NZD
EVGA GeForce GTX1070Ti SC 8GB - $899 NZD
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX1070 8GB - $849 NZD

My guess is that the retailers are holding the status quo prices for the time being: nothing confirmed as of yet by Nvidia re the 11xx-series so no reason to rock the boat.

Yeah it’s brutal. I have a system spec’d out and I don’t even want to think about the price. I know what the price is, I just don’t want to think about it.

Sounds like August / September now…gutted. I’m keen to upgrade but would be silly before 11xx range.

A 1080ti is a safe bet. Going from previous generations it SHOULD be just as good or better than the first batch of 11xx. But I’m waiting myself.

Yeah - 1080 Ti would be a safe bet of course - but an expensive one for tech that’s about to be superseded. I’ll be away from my gaming PC for 3 months too (October-December) so unless the new range gets revealed very soon, I’ll probably hold out until after New Years and hopefully get more bang for my buck then.

Price cut off, but it’s $699

I read an article stating that the 11- something cards will be revealed on the 20th of august.

1180Ti in September too. Sounds like they will hurt the wallet a bit more too:

That Gigabyte board has three display ports and only ONE hdmi port. Why? I dunno, but you’ll have a headache trying to plug an hdmi display AND a VR headset (which also uses hdmi) into it. Just sayin’.

BTW, I picked up a MSI “Twin Frozr” GTX 1080 Ti GAMING X 11G some months ago on sale and it’s been running great. I’d been using the MSI afterburner software for years with my non MSI cards so it was nice to come full circle. Two hdmi ports, two display ports, do we really have to mention the DVI port?

Interesting port choices, not sure why.

Article I just read said 1170 is “supposed” to be on par with 1080 ti, so we will see. Either way 1080ti is a monster card and will shred anything. I only have a 1070, and Im extremely happy with it. I only game on 1080p, so it can handle everything i throw at it on max settings.

I’ve seen that article too but I also saw another article debunking it all over the place. C’mon … the 1170 has 2304 CUDA cores and the 1080 Ti has 3584.

As a 1080ti owner and one who uses triple screens at only 1080p resolution, I think I’ll wait out the 11 series cards as the 1080ti does everything I need at this particular moment. Now once VR headsets start offering more resolution, it will be time to make the upgrade.

Some nice stuff in there. So I guess I will really skip the 10xx generation and go straight to 11xx.

Not exactly the 1180/2080, this seems to be the surprise instead, maybe?!? just a tad more pricey too :joy:

the flagship Quadro RTX 8000 will cost $10,000 when it ships toward the end of the year. For that, you get a GPU with 48GB of new GDDR6 memory, 4,608 CUDA cores, and 576 Tensor cores

Peggle is going to look so good in 4K

So how much will 1080 prices drop, now that the 2000 series have a release date?
