Obi sat inside house and I think “oooh an easy, teachable moment!”
He comes out, helps finds the correct tools with some coaching, has the parts explained and fits it all himself with a little bit of help, super impressed at his keen mind and will to actually learn! It was lovely. Really made me smile.
Just finishing up when lara (4) walks out with a disgusted look on her face and says “why does the lawnmower stink”
I explain that petrol stinks, its what it does, its not nice stuff.
She looks at me walks over and dead on says “no dad. Its not the lawnmower, its you”
Ahaha Nelis does that all the time. “Dad, I dearly love you, and I could listen to your wisdom for hours, except that I can’t stand your smell no more. So ah… Later!”
In my time as a Whimsical young person working at The Travelers Insurance Company, I used to run out of the building at the end of each day, throw my arms up and scream at the top of my lungs freedom!! People would look at me with either shock, disbelief, or they would fall over laughing. Mostly they would laugh since admittedly I was a character of the type who as you know, later grew up to play with toy airplanes.
I had to use a Bundy Clock at my very first full time job after high school. Hours were 0800 - 1630.
One day I was five minutes late, but when I got my next pay saw that I had been docked 15 minutes. I confronted the workshop foreman about it and he told me that pay was calculated in 15 minute increments so ‘suck it up’.
Next time I was a few minutes late, I was standing around idly next to the clock when the foreman wandered over and told me to get to work. I told him I was already late so I might as well wait until 8.14am and then clock on… He wasn’t happy.
