I had an aunt who had one of these. She used to zap us kids (well mostly me) with it…

And how did I somehow forget about that until now?

It’s ok. Just carry a big kitchen knife on you in case you get attacked.

It’s exactly like those bug zapper bats …you don’t know the struggle that I have every time I use our one on a moth or fly …the urge to just touch it …lol

Go take a leak on an electric fence then. Be sure to have Obi film it for posterity.

Where I live, unless you have a reasonable excuse e.g. it is for employment (chef) or genuine religious reasons (Sikh) then that is called " Custody of a knife in public" and if found guilty the maximum penalty is a fine of up to $11,000 and a prison sentence of up to 4 years.

Our laws on the use of reasonable force in self defence are also quite strict, using a knife to defend against an unarmed assailant would probably see you in front of a magistrate as the defendant.

You can repeatedly tase an innocent animal to get them into the slaughterhouse when they’re hurt and too weak to keep standing but you’re not allowed to defend yourself against humans who want to hurt you?

Something’s off there

To each their own I guess. I’m glad I live in a place where I can fill someone full of lead if they break into my house.

I agree… but I think what you’re describing there might well fall afoul of animal cruelty laws here.

I think we do have a long way to go on animal welfare, and I don’t see that as a good excuse to allow brutality amongst humans. Other cultures differ, but that’s fine :+1:

I’m 100% glad I don’t.

Yeah, the ‘Law’ is pretty tough here, but you have to think back to our beginnings. The thing is, you chaps won that Revolution thing and Blighty needed somewhere to send their neer-do-wells, so here we are…

And to get this topic back on track.

Well I could remind her of those times and ask her about what she thought she was doing, but… I’m still kind of scared of her!
