vorpX impressions

4.34 works for me - he posted from splash screen go to configuration
When that opens up expand Hardware and untick Triple Buffering.

thanks MigBuster strange, nope it’s not working for me; even disabled full screen optimalisation etc. VorpX 20.1.1 and BMS 4.34U2; it’s just not hooking. mind sharing your nvidia application settings and in game gfx settings?

I will get something - I had to do a lot to get VorpX running with Kazpersky because that was dead intent on killing VorpX initially.

I picked up vorpX too guys. There were too many “negative” reviews to ignore :grinning:

I’ll take a crack at 4.34 too and let you know how it goes. This is so huge for BMS that someone needs to create a cheat sheet. Maybe a collective effort?

I wonder if the different headset APIs matter on this? Chris was using a Reverb, so I’d guess that’s WMR, WMR for Steam and SteamVR fires up for vorpx. Those things being the latest versions etc might matter.

@Easy which headset?

Also, try running vorpX in admin mode, and whatever Falcon launcher you are using. Sorry I’m late to reply…been out on a full day of flying and going to get some rest and back at it tomorrow.

On my next bit of time off (hopefully in a day or so), I’ll try 4.34 and then export that profile and see if it will work for you.

Many thanks guys, I am sporting a rift cv1. The good side of that is that I can manage 6dof in opentrack and that seems to work extremely well with 180 degree 1:1 tracking. Looking forward to your profile @BeachAV8R; and I got some nvidia/bms settings @MigBuster to play with tonight, will keep you posted.

I might be able to get 6DoF if I click one of those settings in the Falcon controllers setup menu as suggested by someone on the BMS forums. I think it might be the FOV one - maybe. I can’t try it right now as I’m running out the door again - but hopefully tonight…

Tbh I think it’s in the opentrack axes, indeed you can switch between fov and head translation, but slew from side to side should work regardless.

Pretty sure there is a setting along the lines of “enable TrackIR vector expansion,” which I think enables full 6 dof head tracking instead of just 3 dof (pan, tilt, roll). Should be under advanced settings somewhere if I remember correctly. May even be near the switch from FOV to zoom for leaning in/out.

True, you have something like enable trackir cockpit and enable trackir vector in advanced controls where you set your axes, those should both be on (by default I think). Bottom line, if opentrack sends out 6dof than bms will handle it so there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Still no luck with vorpx though tried admin rights and @MigBuster nvidia and game settings but no luck, it won’t hook on to it. Guess I have to…gulp… give up.

Vorpx really wants me to shutdown virus / malware scanners but I’m a little hesitant, nothing but malwarebytes and defender running, and other games are hooked on ok. Any ideas left?

I’ll be digging back into this probably starting tonight or tomorrow. The work schedule has been brutal this week and I’m still catching up…

I wonder how Cliffs of Dover would work in VorpX…?

I’ll report back - probably won’t be until tomorrow though…

So it looks to work fine. I would probably need to tweak the field of view settings (if possible) in whatever controls those views in COD…the widest preset field of view is still a bit too close in. I’m still trying to figure out how to get slide left/right and lean in/out using OpenTrack. I don’t have TrackIR software installed, I’m just using WMR for head tracking. If someone could post their functioning true 6DOF settings for OpenTrack I’d appreciate taking a look at it.

Nice! Thanks!
So, vorpX uses TrackIR or OpenTrack for positioning…?

Hi BeachAV8R; make sure in options you have selected all the proper sources (in the example here i’ve disabled roll; if you see disabled at X; Y and Z then the problem is easily fixed).

Then, to avoid motion sickness mimic 1:1 tracking make sure you set the mapping linearly to something like this in “Mapping”

This is all for oculus of course, I wouldn’t know if the SteamVR plugin can take the same DOF’s.

Regarding filters I’m using Kalman which seems to be OK, accela worked for me with my DIY IR cam in the past but i found it to be a little twitchy for the oculus.

If you want to cross check your BMS settings, see below:

Cheers,
Easy

VorpX can output mouse-emulation with head tracking as input but not a trackIR vector; hence the need to run opentrack in parallel for e.g. sims with clickable cockpits.

Is it in 3D? I was able to get it wrapped to the WMR just fine but only in 2D :sleepy:

For the FOV - Blitz edition has some key bindings for that. I am away for a week now (snowboarding ) but I think it is ± on the main keyboard…?

Btw. once the update 5.0 is released, Team Fusion promised to work on native VR support. I can’t wait for that!
