No idea if true or not, but nature abhors a vacuum so with HP saying nothing this seems good enough for me.
I guess if there is an issue with color correction or mura etc, then it’s good they aren’t ignoring it. While I’d like to see lots more reviews and hands-on, it seems like a good idea not to ship em out bust.
Quick Tested review summary, although it’s worth a watch.
Controllers are bad, or rather just as bad as the current WMR stuff. Use a wheel or HOTAS or something that you play sitting down.
Screens and resolution is the best of this generation.
Comfy, sort of a Rift OG clone in terms of style.
If you do driving or flying and clarity is important then might be worth a look. If looking for more general VR experiences then the Rift S looks good.
Man that Reverb picture quality is nice. Given that most of my in headset time is in seated VR with hardware HOTAS, this might be perfect for me. I’ve not used those standard controllers…apparently the O+ ones are an improvement on those, so I’d hate to go backwards there, but again, given the 90% percentile of what I’m doing with my headset, it might be a pain I can endure.
Did you notice the highest Tested tried HP Reverb on for their reviews on the SteamVR settings with their 1080 (not Ti either) was at 175%? Amateurs, got to get that PC on fire!
I’m less worried about performance now, in that we’re trading ‘supersampling’ what we do already just for plain ‘per pixel’ sampling. Maybe. lol
I also thought that review was generally positive for those of us who use VR only for swimming titles. The only downside I got personally from that review was black levels which wouldn’t be so hot for Elite Dangerous or DCS night missions.
Their comments about being better able to see things in the distance immediately made me think of target spotting in DCS and how much better it may become with this set.
