Multiplayer! (coming)
Yeahā¦Iām really excited about that. I know there is the MP mod, but I really just want to wait until the vanilla game has it as envisioned by the developer.
I wouldnāt really want one (Yaw Motion Simulator)ā¦but it is great seeing someone have such fun with VTOL VR and all that hardwareā¦
Cool AI formation landingā¦
Still no HOTAS support, correct? So you use the VR wands?
With the summer sale, Iām interested.
Iām curious about HOTAS support myself. A search says ānoā, and there is - surprise - a caustic game input āconflictā going on about this from a quick pass thorough the Steam forum.
I bought it to support some competition in this genre.
I really like a lot about VTOL VR but never play it. Without HOTAS support I just canāt get into it (kinda like racing sims without physical wheels/pedals/shifters [racing-HOTAS] I guess, for me), and if you prefer this method of control you likely wonāt use VTOL VR as much.
But, there are those that prefer to use nothing but hand-controllers, or might even require them for physical reasons. Iām Cool with that.
Why the game wonāt support both is my question? Seems limiting.
I think the only answer is that the developer has made an āartistic choiceā to make it a VR controller game only. I love it for the differences from hardware controllersā¦but I understand why people donāt like it either. It is interesting that I feel like I have superior control using the handcontrollersā¦like I think I explained it once that it feels like I can almost think the AV-42C into position with the subtlest of hand movements.
Iāll dust off the Reverb hand controllers and see. I think its on sale for $24.
My all time 2nd favourite simulator after DCS.
Itās just glorious
Trust me, Iāve been trying to sway his development direction ā¦
So he builds VTOL VR for VR only but builds Jetborne Racing for both 2D and VR with physical controller AND TrackIR support? Makes no sense to me so it must be an artisanal decision.
Does anyone know a way to overcome the physical limits of a cockpit? Iām trying to grab the throttle/collective and my physical side consoles are in the way. I cant get close enough.
Iāll be a minority voice here, but speaking as someone who loves my virpil hotas, is building an F/A-18 simpit to scale, and is sorta a controls purist:
I really enjoy using the VTOL VR hand controllers. Itās one of the games I play on long layovers if I bring my VR headset, and itās absolutely brilliant. Wonderful sim, with some deep stuff like TGP and radar. Itās a good trainer for DCS in that regards, as the systems are approachable.
Using the hand controllers in VTOL, your hands are your hands in the game. So if you want to flip a switch (or hit a button, thereās a lot of them in the cockpit), you let go of the stick (or throttle) and reach over and flip the switch. With you hands. Thereās no letting go of your HOTAS and fumbling blindly for your Rift controller, or the mouse, or a keyboard button. You just do it, much like you would in real life.
In that way itās even more immersive than using a Hotas+mouse
I believe you can raise/lower the stick and throttle, possibly your seat too.
I play it in hotel office chairs with nothing around, so I havenāt had that problem.
Any suggestions for fun user made missions?
Now that VR runs great om my rig Iāve renewed my interest in this game!
ā¦ and Public Testing of Multiplayer has begun! ā¦
But how does it hover?
