I just hosted a session… same mission/campaign, same password. I’ll probably up until about midnight central time.
It’s a Workshop AH-94 campaign that follows the Ed Macy book about British Apaches in Afghanistan. Part 1 is really great, comparable with the best DCS campaigns. I am enjoying Pt. 2 a bit less.
Is there a complete list of available AI voice commands?
Yeah…I need to learn these…
Oh yeah…I think I saw that in the workshop. I have only flown the AH-94 once… Are you able to run and gun it single pilot? I’ll bet it is a lot of work. I have purchased the AH-64 for DCS and never touched it… Like a lot of modules.
I’m pretty sure you can do most things with a single pilot, but obviously, a second crew member will make the aircraft more capable. The same goes for the EF24.
Also, it seems that while in single player, you can swap seats at will, you can’t do that in multiplayer mode.
Norway Fjords is up.
Server: MUDSPIKE

I may have to go on autopilot if I get a call…
Coming on in 5 minutes if you are still there.
Man, I am so psyched about this game, especially the F-45 (which is funny as I am fond of ignorantly trashing its inspiration, the F-35). If you can get past the liquid smooth 90’s-level visual style, it is about as refined a multiplayer sim available.
Nice to hear your voice at last, Troll. I was expecting more Viking in your accent!
I am more Swedish Chef…
Good to talk to you guys as well!
I had some issues with my hand controllers, which I have updated now. Lets see if that helps. And, for some reason audio worked in the menus, but not in the cockpit. I’m using Apple Airpods Max and they are recognized both as a handsfree and a stereo headset. After I told SteamVR to use the handsfree, everything worked again…
But that’s just a smokescreen, trying to cover the fact that I have noooo idea what I’m doing!
I need to do some offline weapons training. Navigation too…
I also need to buy Bertil the Dog a bone to gnaw at, when I’m down in my boycave. He was not happy!
But it was fun, none the less.
It’s a perfectly balanced simgame!
VTOL aside…you have to wonder how I knew my son was going to get detention today. Misbehavior is in our genetics I’m afraid to admit…
Really enjoyed flying with you Eric. Your enthusiasm for the F-45 is pretty contagious… I’m going to have to give it a whirl. Although I do love that F/A-26B bomb truck… It’s mesmerizing to watch the F-45 fly around the pattern… The multiplayer aspect is very well done…
Some quick questions for anyone in the know. There were times when I could barely hear @smokinhole on the radio. Every time he would transmit, it was like squelch was over riding him… I’m just wondering if this is part of the EW Aspect of the game…because there was active jamming going on. After we killed the special EW radar site, it seem to go away. If so, that is a really cool game mechanic…and interrupting communications, makes things really hard. I will have to consult the patch notes to read up on the jamming features that were introduced
It is a really fun mission. A darn shame, we couldn’t save it, since we had made basically finished phase 1. I think I was on for almost 3 hours… So, if you want to finish the entire campaign through phase 2, it might be five hours or more. A dedicated server would be a cool feature.
I took some video, so I will post screenshots later tonight… And will join someone else’s game as I’m on call tonight…
Great seeing you in the air @Troll - Sorry, I wasn’t very helpful with figuring out the navigation… I had my hands full of SAMs over there at those bunkers
I was having problems with my microphone a couple days ago. Paul had a good suggestion about making sure that the VTOL VR window is the main focus. You can probably just left mouse click on the vital VR window on the 2-D display… The microphone issues seem to be very hardware specific…
I was hearing the same degradation of comms when we were flying around the jamming site when we flew together Chris, so yes, I think it is fair to say that is by design…and very cool. Also, around the jamming site I was getting a GPS red flag on the HMD which I am guessing means that GPS guided munitions would probably not be accurate.
I wonder if switching to PTT would help. Like maybe that would simulate a distinct carrier frequency that would power through the jam.
That sure is cool… I could barely make out what @smokinhole was saying…but I wonder if he could hear my transmissions OK. I would say something to him and he would reply…but I couldn’t make out the reply. I was hoping he wasn’t thinking I was ignoring him…I just couldn’t hear him through the static. Really a cool feature. So I guess the EW site should probably be one of the primary targets even before the airbases… I wonder if the location of that is randomized too…
That would be a neat feature…to have two channels or something and when A was being jammed you could switch to B or something. But really…the lack of communication is quite a cool simulated feature particularly when you are working in tandem with someone. The fog of war definitely sets in quickly with no comms…!
Doing research to be at least partially useful as an EWO, VTOL VR does simulate both com and GPS jamming on what they refer to as the “low band.” The GECM trucks apparently are capable of jamming that band, and sounds like other things can as well.
Point of note if anyone is going to do their own OECM, low band jamming is agnostic and affects REDFOR and BLUFOR. At this point I haven’t seen anything about how useful GPS and coms jamming are against the AI, but if there is a PvP thing going I can definitely see the utility of it.
I just hosted a game (its 1730 Central US time, 2330Z)… the usual password, same Fjord mission.
Coming in…
