I’ll have to bring my Q3 next time I’m on the road (currently Wednesday) and check out the new airplanes. Love VTOL VR, and would love some good MP fun.
Had a blast flying with Eric again this evening. Before he joined the session, I took the EF24 up to lob some AGM188’s at multiple radar sites. A screenshot just for @Victork2…
Once Eric joined the session I switched to the F45. I kind of like this RAF/RN livery.
Eric and I in formation…
Refueled and rearmed at a newly captured airbase.
Formation takeoff.
Fox 3!
An enemy fighter watches as a pair of SAM’s launch from our target airfield.
Rifle (again)
Out of AGM’s I make a strafing run
At this point we both had to call it a day.
Or was it that inner monologue starting just after pushing said button … “it was at this point he knew he had ****** up”
So that worked in the F-45A? I wonder if that was just a bug that one time we ran the mission…
A couple of times I had to taxi a few feet in order to touch off the Ground Crew ready message. Other than that, it always works. With his F45 Paul was able to clear out the airbases in almost one pass. He was assigning targeting info to each Maverick before pickling them all in quick succession. Watching the field practically blow up from corner to corner was very impressive. In the period where he killed 3 planes, 4 SAMs, and 20 ground targets; I killed two planes. Yay! I contributed!
But those two planes are the ones that would have probably taken me out!
One tactic I have used against really challenging targets is to do a reconnaissance sortie with the F45 in stealth configuration (ie clean)… you can get a good bit closer without being detected. You can then use the EOTS to build a target list, then RTB, and come back with stand off cruise missiles (AGM161’s?). You can then ripple those off, usually not long after takeoff, land, rearm and repeat.
I have to wonder if the GPS positions are shared via datalink to other team mates. That way you could use the F26 as a cruise missile truck.
As soon as Facebook gets its act together let’s find out!
Meantime, I am out of the VR business.
If the manuals are correct, yes. You can send them to your team in groups, they are not automatically transmitted. Your team mates should get them as the first three letters of your name and then numbered (ie if you’re using “Paul” they’d be PAU1).
So doing recon and kicking the targets out to the rest of the team should totally be viable. Possibly need to kill the GECM truck first to be able to good GPS coords and have accurate GPS guided weapons.
What’s going on with FB/Meta now?
It’s back for now.
I won’t be able to get on until late tonight. Running kids to soccer. And I’m on call, so no guarantees.
Yeah, I mean, them fjords ain’t saving themselves from team red, now do they…?
I’m good for a couple of hours of play… you know the drill… Fjord mission… MUDSPIKE and mudspike.
Cooking diner
Like VTOLVR itself, the manual is a brilliant encapsulation that boils all of the complexity down to its pure functional form. Even if you don’t have or plan to buy the EF-24, it has every system that might be installed on other types within VtVr so it probably works as a general reference.
EDIT: I thought this was an “official” publication. It isn’t. It is the creative work of a dude on reddit.
Funny because I was just doing some “self education” because I wanted to start to comprehend the RWR symbology…
Here is the excellent F/A-26B “Wasp” manual by “Quantify”:
And from the VTOL VR Wiki:
Awesome, that will be a great resource. There are F26 and F45 versions available too.
I’ll be available to play in about 30 minutes or so. Say around 1500z (1000 EST)… I was thinking about giving the Greek Islands Liberation a whirl… Apparently you have to go in stages and not provoke the central island or “things will get bad” ( )
Server is up… Greek Islands Liberation…
Server: MUDSPIKE
PW: mudspike
Not sure how this campaign is this is the first go of it… I can probably play for a couple of hours.
It appears to have limited lives. I’m not sure what happens if you use up your two lives. I’m not sure if you’ll need to exit and come back in. Of course as the host I wonder what will happen if I have to exit and come back in…
