Well Done! A "pat on your back" thread!

Never skimp when buying a ratchet. I had a cheap draper one that I borrowed and the teeth slipped inside and cracked my cheek bone. It hurt so much I am not ashamed to say I actually wept on the floor.

I can recommend Dewalts cordless angle grinders. The 60v cordless is a beast that has more oomph than my similarly sized corded Dewalt. The 20v is the same size and power as my corded Dewalt, without having to trip over anything. Both will easily run through a grinding disc or two without a battery change. I mainly use them when I’m having to go over or around things where pulling a cord from the generator is going to be a giant hassle.

And I completely agree that almost all my handtools that come to the jobsite with me are pretty much a consumable. I’ve got a few that have some sentimental value (I still have my chipping hammer that I started learning to weld with back in High School in the 90’s), but other than that if I leave, it loose, it break it, that’s why I have spares in my chest. As I explained to one of my helpers, if you leave it, loose it, or break it, and it cost more than a half hours wages, figure out how to stop doing that. Else make up the cost with savings of just grabbing the spare your bought for just this occasion. The young man had spent about 15 minutes trying to find his $5 generic tape measure, when we had a bucket with a half dozen in the chest.

Ooooh man, that had to suck! Having busted many a knuckle I can only imagine taking one tot he face.

My line of work, I rarely ever need to put such force into a ratchet. Snapped some bolt heads off couple times tho.

Still, tools can be hella dangerous. A good punch in the face is far preferable to what a mishap with a chainsaw or long axe would entail.

When I work roots, my boys get rightfully scared, and back way off. And with good reason. Me and my axe are in the process of utter violent destruction, and you do not want to get caught up in that

Ah, looking forward to getting back to work actually! Got some sweet landscaping on the docket, gonna be fun. And muddy. And laborious.

Yaaaaaa, but if a better set of rudder pedals than the Crosswind got released called “Mightywind” for $1000 and I said something like, “Mightywinds or bust for me” and “Crosswinds suck. Hard.”, how would you feel after spending $450 for the Crosswind?

Look bro, you’re right and I amended my post.

I would buy the crosswind. I am not in a position to spend that kind of money ($1,000) having had my bank accounts cleaned out by a previous wife and the lawyers of my previous employers who poisoned me at work. Like most people I am very cautious with my purchases.

Let me belatedly add my name to the MFG Crosswind fandom. But also to the “plastic crap” fandom. My Logitech X-56 is the best stick I have ever owned over 40 years of sim-ing. And it can be made certering-free with the easy removal of a spring.

Also enjoying the x56. I do find using the throttle as a helicopter collective is not good. I use a rotary switch which is perfect

@Scoop
A word of caution if I may. I bought CH pedals. They lasted two years then developed a bad pot. This led to buying Saitek pedals to the same effect. I was frustrated. I began talking w the creator of Slaw Device pedal. A few email and 500 USD later, I got my pedals. They are very solid, functional and look very nice. Best of all, in 5 year Zero problems. I had to look it up. I bought them in Sept 2015. The steering damper provides good feel.

100% love my Slaw pedals…err… @Troll’s Slaw pedals. I’m supposed to write a review about them one of these days…

How long have these second hand pedals been around? They seem to be the Tiger tank of pedals.

Ugh, and I need new pedals too. My CH one’s have always kinda bugged me…seem to be slowly becoming more ‘binary’ in their sensitivity.

Went to order crosswinds yesterday. They went out of stock as I typed. Then when I took a break from the UH1 for lunch and restarted to fly with @Victork2 and sort out my comms I got this

Today my local IT guy said he would fix the laptop overnight andMilan emailed and said crosswinds were in stock.

Crosswinds ordered.

Over engineered, resource heavy, strategically irrelevant, and in every WW2 movie ever apparently crewed by replacement depot crews who failed tactics and gunnery training (looking at you the last fight scene in Fury)? Now if you’d said the Maus tank of pedals

The Rivet Counters Club just called. They said your spending too much time in Mudspike :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Actually, that was what I thought of that scene too. It was an “Are you kidding me?!” momment.
